Once I realized that by tracking everything. Even the bad, terrible, over calorie moments, I am no longer letting food have the upper hand- something in me switched. I have hard times, I have times when I don't want to eat what I should. However, just knowing that It is ok to track it, to account for it. To say, "yeah, I ate that and its ok!" really made a difference for me! I have had a couple of hard days the past couple weeks, but tracking has made them better than they otherwise would have been! This time it really feels like a journey not so much a life battle. ( it is both, but the perspective is different.)

I am really working on getting my blood sugar down where I want it to be. Honestly, not really hungry but I didn't eat that many carbs this morning and it was going on 1:30.. so, not what I should have been doing.. but, it's all a process, right?!?

My husband has been living with my obsession of bettering our diets. I am a professionally trained baker, so it's hard on me. He isn't one to care too much. He is at his ideal weight and all he sees is expense.. On a good note it typically means I can make all kinds of junky cake, pies, chocolate and he will devour it for me.. sad, that he isn't on the same train I am.. :) However, he is taking notice at my weight loss. :) It's changing my mood and my happiness and energy level.

You can do, I have a vacation planned but luckily it starts two days before this challenge is over. But I still plan on trying to balance my vacation week out. By trying to maintain my weight loss. Vacation is a time for relaxing and spoiling yourself a little. But it doesn't have to be over the top. Adding in exercise can be easy to counter balance a heavy meal. Look for the opportunities.

Thanks for sharing, I will have to remember that and have it my mantra when I am working out. I can picture it like one of my daughter's video games, the fat is crying like a baby the more weight you pump or the longer and faster you run. Love it!!!

Hildy, I love vegetables. They're great for diabetes. I try really hard to have at least 1-2 salads for my meals during the day. I have romaine lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, onions and mushrooms on them. Also, for protein most often I eat beans. All those other vegetables, (fruits too) are great for diabetics. It's hard to get there and stay on a consistent diet. My husband is a meat eater and pretty much dislikes all veggies... I have learned that I can cook for him and for me as well. I have to come to understand that it's all a journey. I need to enjoy the ride, the process, because in the end that is what we have! :) Thank you for sharing!!!

Thanks for sharing. I am also trying to change my relationship with food as well. I am working with a therapist as well. I have two children that are starting to gain a little weight so I am trying to help them without scaring them or having them worry they are overweight but its hard to balance it all.

You are so right about how we treat ourselves. It took a long time for me to learn self-kindness. I read somewhere that most of us would never talk to our friends the way we talk to ourselves. Great post.
