STARVING but I will behave!

If you are STARVING, eat! Focus on lean protein and fiber to get the most bang for your buck, calorically. They, along with healthy fat (mmm, avocado), take a long time for your body to break down, so can help keep you full for a long time. I don't mean to be unhelpful, but it sounds like you really didn't eat much yesterday (but great job with your self control!). They say that you should be eating at least 1200 calories each day, as an absolute minimum, to keep your body functioning well. But day 1 is hard, and you did a great job staying on track! Balance-- this has got to be sustainable :)

You're absolutely right, Sarah. Long term. Today, was a bit better. I had a granola bar for breakfast, a large and plentiful salad for lunch and a bit of Cuban coffee with some hazelnut creamer (no sugar). The coffee wasn't even a half a cup. A mini dark chocolate bar. The bar was about an inch. Another salad when I got home. This is really saying something. I had a horrible day at work. A patient was very disrespectful to me, which made me sad and gave me a headache. I really would have loved to devour a large piece of chocolate cake, but I didn't want to emotionally eat. When I got home, I had a salad instead and 3 vanilla wafer cookies, 1 strawberry and 1 grape. It could have been much much worse. Thankfully, I exercised self-control.
