  • I’ve been in the hospital with a ruptured appendix the last four days, and thought I might need to find a scale here to weigh in on and have to ask one of the nursing staff to take my “standing” photo (embarrassing!) but just heard definitively that I’m be discharged later today! Whoop whoop!

Home! Got weighed in. And while I’d gained a few pounds this week (almost certainly due to inflammation), I was still under goal by a couple of pounds. Best of luck to everyone and congratulations on your weight losses.

I made it. I do wish they would equalize the windows over the six months, though. I think more people would have success if the weight loss weren’t so front loaded to the first eight weeks.

How is everyone doing? This second weigh in will be a close one for me. It will probably come down to the wire before I’ll know if I meet this mini goal. When I signed up for this longer weight loss bet, I had thought I could work on losing 1/2-1 pounds a week not realizing the first couple of check ins required more significant weight loss. My grehlin is definitely up this week!

A little frustrated. I woke up this morning, weighed myself, was 0.9 under goal. Was going to do my weigh in but needed to get kids ready for school. Come back and go to do weigh in and I'm now right at goal. I've done nothing in one hour since being up but had a sip of water with my morning medication. Not sure how my weight suddenly went up by almost a pound. At least I still hit my goal I guess. Good luck to everyone.

Did your scale get moved? Sometimes a different location even a few inches away can change the reading. It could also need new batteries!

Curious to hear what changes /habits you all have picked up that have helped you reach your goals and have been sustainable?

I am walking more- in morning and night. I also TRY to make sure to eat dinner three hours before bed (although usually two hours.) But I do walk after dinner.

I am also doing exercises on the BODI app formerly known as Beach Body. I am doing the "Muscle Burns Fat" and the "Muscle Burns Fat Advanced" with Megan Davies. I worry less about how much I lift and instead focus on form. Even lighter weights are helping me lose pounds because I am constantly moving during the workout!

I am intermittent fasting as well. I try to eat dinner by 7pm. Walk after dinner by 8, sleep by 10, wake up my daughter at 5:16 and exercise in morning when she leaves for school at 6:30. I don't eat until I finish my morning workout.

I am also trying to incorporate daily walking. Another change I’ve made is trying to have protein and fiber with every meal or snack.

I’m not going to make this round. My motivation ebbs and flows. I do great for a few days and then have a set back and get discouraged and give up and undo whatever progress I made.
I have an injury that keeps me from working out as hard as I used to and I can’t seem to keep the motivation up without the adrenaline from a hard workout.

Totally hear you! I am looking at the long term goal as I might lose 1/2-1 a week, but 2 pounds a week is definitely pushing it for me. I likely will not make this first short term goal. But let’s keep moving forward bit by bit and see where we end up at the end!

  • My husband and I went to a baseball game last night (go Red Sox!) and parked 1.5 miles away, so I got in 3 miles of walking last night. This is Tower Bridge in Sacramento that takes you over the river from downtown to West Sacramento where the ballpark is located. Does anyone else like to walk as their exercise?
