This is really tough. One solution that my SO and I worked out is that we alternate who shops & cooks each week. He shops and cooks one week, then it's my turn. On my weeks things are a little lighter and veggie filled, on his weeks I'm a little more careful with portion control. Also, there are lots of ways to spice things up without resorting to junk food or boring grilled chicken and steamed broccoli (Asian recipes, etc.). Good luck!

Respect for each other is an important part of being married, and sitting down to work this out is worth the time. Discussing what each of you wants and needs from meals will go a long way towards a win-win solution. Don't forget to include couples nights out where you two can have fun together! I love the idea of taking turns shopping and cooking - we do the same!

Hey girl! First of all, congratulations on making it this far and believing you can go all the way. You can do whatever you decide! Since you asked, my biggest piece of advice would be to take the word "cheat" out of your vocabulary. If you want to have a cookie one day, have the damn cookie! Just make sure it's only one cookie, not 6, and work harder to work it off. When you realize it's all calculations, you'll eventually stop craving things like cookies because it's not worth the effort it will take to work it off and break even on the day, not to mention working it off PLUS getting in an additional burn to actually lose weight. Don't be afraid of "bad" foods, just know that choosing to consume them means more effort on your part to expend those calories. In my view, that's part of believing in yourself, which you're already doing. Be smart and you'll be successful. You got this!

Welcome and congrats on the recent wedding! As far as tips, the most important thing for me is to "plan your work and work your plan." I do best when I plan food choices ahead and am honest about where potential pitfalls are going to be. Abstaining from all treats / social gatherings / celebrations is not a long-term solution. I want to have friends and go out and celebrate birthdays and anniversaries and holidays! I know that if I go out for dinner with friends or there's an office party or a birthday is coming up that less healthy food is going to be consumed. I don't beat myself over it, I plan for it. I pack a smaller lunch that day to save some calories for a treat later or I order an appetizer instead of a huge entree or I have a light beer instead of my beloved IPAs. You get the picture. :) And the feeling of empowerment that you get when you come back from a party and realize you didn't blow your whole week's effort is priceless!
