So as the new year started I began to reflect on the past year. Things didn't go quite as expected but I really don't have regrets or guilt about things that have happened. While my weight loss journey wasn't as great as I had hoped I am lighter now than I was a year ago.

I read blog posts of friends that seemed to be in the same spot as I am. a little re-evaluating or just a re-focus to "drop a few more pounds" or "drop the last 20" (thanks Louise, I am taking that drop to heart!) Through these posts I have found a new focus, new state of mind, new... hmmmm, JUST NEW!!

It began with a post about the last 20 lbs and the feeling of struggles to get to goal. Well that made me think about my next 20 lbs, that is about 4 months of planning and focus. I can do that. That would also be two 6 week aerobic sessions so I have my exercise already scheduled.

Then the post about the new year 5 K and the comment about "putting down the weight". Well that inspired me more! I want to "put down" this weight. This lead to the goal for the year, put down 50 lbs by December 31. Which was then broke into smaller goals because as we all know you can't have a huge goal and nothing in the middle and beginning. So my mid term goal is 25 Lbs by June 30, hmmmm that extends the 4 months for 20 lbs. well if I put down 5 lbs each month I will be 25 lbs lighter in 5 months. This gives a little cushion just in case I happen to stall because again as we all know this can happen as life happens. This post also tweaked a side thought of maybe I could do a 5 k and would love to do one on New years eve. With encouragement (again thanks Louise for that) I decided my goal would be at least two 5k walk/runs with the bonus of doing one on New Years eve, if I can find on in my area. So today I have been looking and planning these into my schedule. I haven't found anything yet but this is something I really want to do and will do so I will go to my local Running Room store when I get to Thunder Bay and see if they have a schedule for that. Something fun, maybe a charity event, nothing for time just yet but that might change as the year goes by. Nothing is impossible. Then came the blog giving the results of the event and that showed that everything is possible and the inspiration increased, so yes consider the 5 k goal a done deal!! I will do this and this is the year I will do it!!

Then came the posts of Yikes and Getting ready. These spoke to me as well. It reminded me that everyone struggles, back slides and has to re-start (thank you Juli for the honesty). So as each day progresses I will continue in this journey, prepare each day for the next one as best as I can and I will remember that life happens, we can't control everything but we can control what we do and how we react to every day life.

Here is to the best year yet!!!
