Surviving Week One

Welcome and congrats on the recent wedding! As far as tips, the most important thing for me is to "plan your work and work your plan." I do best when I plan food choices ahead and am honest about where potential pitfalls are going to be. Abstaining from all treats / social gatherings / celebrations is not a long-term solution. I want to have friends and go out and celebrate birthdays and anniversaries and holidays! I know that if I go out for dinner with friends or there's an office party or a birthday is coming up that less healthy food is going to be consumed. I don't beat myself over it, I plan for it. I pack a smaller lunch that day to save some calories for a treat later or I order an appetizer instead of a huge entree or I have a light beer instead of my beloved IPAs. You get the picture. :) And the feeling of empowerment that you get when you come back from a party and realize you didn't blow your whole week's effort is priceless!
