Well, I know it is a bit impulsive, but I just joined ANOTHER DB, this time, a six month game called the transformer (it's the one that starts Nov. 4th 2014...join me!)

Anywho, the reason I decided to take the plunge is b/c being part of a DB4 has been so incredibly motivating already, and I am only a few days into it. I find myself looking forward to the money I will win, preparing creative and healthy meals, pushing extra hard in my workouts, and even tackling other projects more, like cleaning my apartment, or catching up on emails.

I think the reason DB has been so powerful for me is that it is TIME SENSITIVE, and that it offers TANGIBLE  rewards (winning $, support from others) and "punishments" (loss of $, embarassment if loved ones ask 'how's that food bet thingie going?').

Let's face it: compulsive overeating (or simply eating past fullness, eating junk food, etc) is a POWERFUL and IMMEDIATE reward. Feels good (until the next morning, ugh), tastes good, and relieves boredom immediately. Passing up that immediate sensory reward for a distant, not-even-sure-it's-possible reward (ie: "if i stay strong and don't eat the brownie, maybe I will be thinner. someday. kind of. I hope. oh, $#@% it, I AM EATING THE BROWNIE!') is almost IMPOSSIBLE. However, DB gives that tangible and short term reward: if we pass up that brownie, maybe we can win $$$. The big time! Dolla dolla bill, y'all. CREAM: Cash Rules Everything Around Me...

Okay, I am lame. But you get my point, right? :)

So, I am learning about what motivates me (rewards!), and how to create that motivation in a healthy and sustainable way. I am having lots of fun during the process. I am so glad I found all of you, my online DB family. Thanks for doing this with me--let's all win BIG!
