I can relate to the 'one piece of cake will turn into 5' (and then some more...)
It's like when you decide: NO more sugar/treats/unhealthy foods, everyone around you suddenly feels the need to start sharing their treats ;) I know the feeling!

I slip up too from time to time (yesterday for example), but I notice that if I eat enough fiber and protein, my cravings are a lot better.
My favorite go to's are: (natural) peanut butter, whole wheat bread (just not a lot because of the kcals), hummus, tempeh, ...

I can sure relate to this. I think for the time being, I am making a choice to abstain from those types of things because when I attempt to have one bite of a cookie, or a half of one, it ends up being three cookies and then I'm searching for a brownie or something within an hour. The nice thing is, I know I can change my mind later, but for now, it's wonderfully free-ing to just "know" that I am not interested in that stuff while I'm working on this bet.

By being honest, you are doing well. +0.6 isn't horrific, just makes it a bit more of a challenge to get back in the game. One of my friends used to be a sweet addict and to kick it, after every meal, every snack, every non-water drink, she brushed her teeth and used mouthwash. She swears by it. She calls it her mouthwash diet. Not only did she break the sweet addiction, her dentist loved her.

If you get a chance watch the new documentary "Fed Up". It talks a lot about sugar addiction and obesity in America. It's very interesting and helps me to really think about all those hidden sugars out there that we are consuming every day. I did a sugar detox for 10 days and it has really helped me to at least back off on the sugar. For those of us who struggle with this we need to decide every day to do the best we can with this day. You might want to think about the people you let into your life - Keep fighting for you!

You can do it! Giving in feels so much worse than staying strong. Why does it seem like such a great idea at the time?! It is not worth it! Also, I know what you mean about eating with other people - I find that I pig out to avoid being the party pooper! Again, so not worth it!

Great job of not giving in. You're right, one day you can have a slice or two within reason, but it has to be on your own terms.

If you can, get rid of the cake or avoid the area where it is!

We had friends stop by this week and they brought a box of donuts. They sat on the counter all night, looked at me, taunted me, it was sooooo hard to resist. I even logged one in MyFitnessPal and decided it wasn't worth the 300+ calories. So I threw them out once company left. Call it rude or not, but I just couldn't deal with it any more!

These successes are the ones that will empower us and show us that we can do this - surprise cake and all!! Goodluck!

I can totally relate. This is where calorie counting and using My Fitness Pal has helped me. I am happier when my diet is balanced and not restrictive. If I want a treat I have 2 rules that I stick to; 1) It must fit into my calorie budget. If I really want something I have to cut elsewhere. 2) It must be really really good quality decadence! Homemade, haagan dazs or something totally YUMMY. It can't be crap just for the sake of it.

I've found this easy to stick to for the last 2 months now and really feel in control right now.

The other key mantra that has helped me;

"If you get a flat tire, you don't go and slash the other three." I have no idea where it originated but it is so true. One slip up or some dessert doesn't mean all your efforts are wasted.

Good luck!!! :)

The name you chose caught my eye. I have a summer dress I bought 2 years ago and have not been able to wear. I want this summer to be the one!
