I have a long held belief that if I could focus on weight loss in a bubble - no work, no house cleaning, no cooking for the family - I could hit my goal easily. I've been reading DB updates about people prepping five days of lunches to bring to work, of getting a workout in at 5 am so they could get it in before the craziness of the day, etc. The stress of stuff we have to do can make us give up on fixing ourselves. Like the old commercial, we need Calgon to take us away way too often.

How to fix it? How to do what we need to do, both in the world and for our bodies? Well, on the commercial theme, our first step is "Just Do It." If I make myself start, it is so much easier from there. Today I made myself start a turkey chili cooking. I made myself sit to grade papers I'd been avoiding. I made myself start drinking a big cup of water, and later I'll make myself step on the treadmill. Start. Over and over and over.

And what do I find if I Just Do It? My next commercial: "He likes it! Hey Mikey!" So many activities I dread are doable, even likable,  once I jump over the Just Do It hurdle.

The big thing I need to keep in mind is that I don't "wish I were an Oscar Meyer weiner." Much too plump. I'd rather be the slim one about whom one inquires, "Where's the beef?"

P.S. I miss the commercials of old. ;)
