- Three Days on the Romea Strata – a walking experiment in self-awareness
Day 1
Started with respect – for the path, the weather, and my own ambition.
20 km later, I was saltier, smarter, and surprised by how forgiving feet can be.
(At least on day one.)
Day 2
I went for glory: 27 km.
The body objected, the heel protested, the legs kept quiet.
Turns out: endurance is a virtue.
But knowing when to pause – that’s wisdom.
Day 3
No plan, no app. Just a saddle and a dog who nearly took his owner down to greet me.
8 km, 200 vertical meters, and one clear thought:
If there’s no reason to stay, leaving is not weakness.
It’s clarity.

Conclusion
I didn’t push past my limits –
I learned where they are.
I didn’t finish the whole way –
I chose when enough was enough.
Pilgrimage isn’t about distance.
It’s about knowing when to keep walking – and when to stop.

- Hike to Teuchlspitz, Carinthia
On July 19th, I completed a scenic hike to the Teuchlspitz in Carinthia, overcoming approximately 800 meters of elevation gain. The tour consisted of two sections:
• A 5.91 km morning walk starting at 07:48, with an average heart rate of 109 bpm and a pace of 35:05 min/km, taking 3 hours and 27 minutes and burning 1,661 kcal.
• A 5.11 km afternoon section starting at 12:28, with a slightly higher average heart rate of 113 bpm, a pace of 31:30 min/km, lasting 2 hours and 41 minutes and burning 1,019 kcal.
The total distance was over 11 km through beautiful alpine terrain. The highlight of the day was attending the annual summit mass (Gipfelmesse) at the top — a special and atmospheric tradition in the mountains.
