I lost over 40 pounds doing DietBets last summer, but I broke my arm at the end of September and fell off the wagon completely. I've since gained back those 40 pounds, plus 20 more! It's time to get back on track and I know DietBet can get me there!

Hi! I'm checking in to see how the 1/2 was... Hope you are doing well.

JamieLogical

Thanks so much for thinking of me! I survived and actually finished over a minute faster than I had planned! I'm pretty sore all over, but no serious damage done I don't think. Icing my knees now and will take a nice hot bath in a bit.

Hi! So awesome to hear from you! And great job on the 10 miles. You are going to do great with the 1/2!! On the 13th we did a shamrock run 15k (9.3mi) in the pouring down rain. It was TERRIBLE because I got soaked and it was very hilly too!! I am very happy to have accomplished it as it was a great challenge. I had a 10 mi run slated for this past Sunday but I postponed it as I had a board exam Monday and finals yesterday and today. I feel excited to get out this weekend for another long run. So glad to hear from you. Are you planning any other dietbets? I am in two now and pretty close to my goal for them with about two weeks left so I think I will make it. If you do decide to join another let me know. I still have about 10 lbs to meet my personal weight loss goal and I like dietbets...???? I can't wait to hear how your half goes!!

Good for you to come back and do what you know works! It's so easy to get out of healthy habits and put weight on. Hopefully they will get a maintenance bet going sometime soon to help us stay accountable once we've lost the weight!

JamieLogical

Thanks! I have actually lost and regained weight a bunch of times. I can be very motivated and determined while losing weight, but as soon as I get derailed (surgery the first time and the broken arm the second time), I go straight back to my old habits. It's like a light switch. Either I'm 100% ON or 100% OFF. I really hope I can work on that this time around. A maintenance bet would be awesome! I was already thinking that as I get close to my goal weight, I'd do one of the six-month bets to kind of slow things down and stretch things out a bit so I could get more into a maintenance mentality instead of pushing so hard for 4% per month.

I have tried to run and I just get winded after 1 mile. I've tried the easy into running plan and I just can't do it. I do have high blood pressure. I am in great shape because I do other exercises. What the deal?

JamieLogical

I started off by running very short intervals. Couch to 5k was too much for me to start with. I would run for one minute, walk for 4 minutes, and continue doing those 5-minute cycles for a half hour. After a few weeks of doing that, I then did Week 1 of Couch to 5k. The key while doing C25k is not to move on until you are ready. If you have to repeat workouts or entire weeks, that's perfectly fine.

I posted my weight on my profile. Not hiding anymore. I did that same as you losing and gaining back. This summer is going to be a great LOSING summer.

JamieLogical

Yeah, I feel no shame in exposing my weight here because I know that this is the last time I will ever be seeing these numbers. I hope that seeing the real numbers will help inspire others.
