I recently discovered activity.club app for people who have different fitness devices to connect in one place. My sister is on Apple watch and another friend is on Motorola. Now we can see each other's progress!

I am looking for some advice, I want to buy a treadmill and wondering what kind to buy. Does anyone on here own a treadmill & how do you like it? What name brand, make & model is it? I really miss jogging and -30 is too cold for me, plus I am afraid of falling on the frozen tundra....... Thanks!!!

I bought the proform 995c and love it but the track slows down on me alot. I just increase the speed but then my actual mileage walked is wrong. I need to work on it and read the manual.

Depending on your pace/weight, a good treadmill might be too expensive, while the cheaper one too ineffective. I would suggest connecting your bike to a turbo trainer or buying a cycle machine instead. That's the best bang for your buck in my view. Modern smart turbo trainers can be connected to a PC and display yourself riding in a virtual reality. I use something similar at the gym and it's just like the real thing. You instantly forget that you are in the gym and not outside. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xBQjEjpUKa0

Anyone ever used the FatTrack Gold Digital Body Fat Caliper? Is it hard to use and get consistent results?

I'm not a fitness expert or even a serious weight lifter. I just want to be able to track progress in reducing body fat (which I'm sure, despite my healthy BMI, is still in the "oh crud, are you kidding me?!" range).

I've read that calipers are the way to go over a scale that gives body composition, but the scale sure seems like it would be easier. Looking for reviews on calipers vs scales or whatever other advice you can give.

I really want a health tracker. I've been waiting for the new Fitbit to come out, but I'm not sure whether to buy the Fitbit Charge now or wait until early next year for the Fitbit Charge HR. Do you think the heart rate monitor is worth waiting for?

I had the Garmin Vivofit which has a constant time showing with the heartrate monitor but since during the day at work I wear my regular watch I felt weird wearing both. I like the Fitbit charge because you can see the time when you want (like while working out when I am not wearing my watch) or not at all.

I'm glad you mentioned the FitBit Charge HR is coming out next year. I was all set to get the Charge but really wanted the HR monitor. I'll wait until next year. :) Right now I have the Polar HR monitor and Fit bit & Up ( I don't wear the Up much anymore). Way too much stuff to wear when working out. One device would be nice to wear instead of 3.

I picked up a Jarv Run BT - Bluetooth Heart Rate Monitor from amazon over the weekend and tried it out today. It was only slightly noticeable during parts of my 6.4 mile walk today but never uncomfortable. It's not even visible under a loose fitting polyester gym shirt. It synced up to MapMyWalk with no issues and it let me see my heart rate in real time at any time. Very easy to set up and "install" before heading out. I think this is going to track my calories burned during walks, hikes and rides very accurately and very affordably.

Has anyone linked their scale to the site? I weigh everyday to keep on track. My weight fluctuates with water gain from exercise, salty restaurant meals and other things. I can gain and lose several pounds a week, with the average line going down overall. I'm curious if it's better to keep that to myself and manually input once a week or let the scale report all the readings. Thoughts?

I link my Withings scale to the site. I need to see the #s which will determine how hard I need to go that day. For me it works.

Rebecca M.

I unlinked mine. I understand my fluctuations day to day, but have decided I don't like it recorded on the site. I'm going back to official and token weigh-ins only.

Bought the FitBit One, because it tracks stair climbing. I love all the charts and graphs on FitBit's site and app. I don't even notice it's on me tracking calories burned throughout the day. I took it on a hike through the Rickett's Glen Waterfall trail and climbed 1048 feet in an 8 mile hike. Fitbit logged this as 133 flights of stairs. I felt it in my calves and shins for 2 days after the hike but I loved every minute of it. There are badges/achievements for various milestones like 10,000 steps in a day, 50 miles total, etc. I got up to the 125 Floors climbed. Next time I go there, I'll have to loop back a bit and get the badge for 150 floors.

you can sync MapMYfitness to FITBIT??

The0ldMan

Yep. When I get back from a bike ride, everything syncs up and there's a large block of "very active minutes" that fill the time I was logging a workout in MapMyRide. If you do a hike or walk, you sometimes get overlapping results and have to delete one of them on Fitbit to keep the calorie budget in check.

Just bought a Jawbone Up24 from Amazon. See someone at work with an Up on his wrist. Thought I would try it out. Plus I joined a bet, so I can be held accountable to use it also.

You can join now, it's not closed yet. They just closed the one I started in September. I say your best bet is to jump in this one, but it's certainly up to you. I'm hoping you take this as encouragement, not pressure. Let me know if you have questions about your UP24. :-)

BabyBee

No pressure. Was more concerned that I missed out on joining this one. I will look at it tonight while I play with my new pretty pink Up24!!

I bought a jawbone UP and then the Misfit Shine.
I like the misfit shine because you don't have to plug it in to charge it. And the misfit shine shows if you are close to your goal for the day and it also tells time.
