Happy belated Canada Day Valerie! I celebrated Canada Day while camping in Morrisburg, Ontario. Strangely, there were fireworks on the US side of the St Lawrence on the night of the 1st so I'm not too sure what was going on over there. I'm assuming there are some Americans who just love any reason to bring out the fireworks (I suppose I can't blame them). Anyway, I'm a big fan of food too. Love to cook, love to eat, glued to Food Network and constantly flip through my cookbooks looking for inspiration. What I've been finding is that the whole process leading up to eating is just as fun for me as eating the final product. You know how French Canadians show love with their food, right? Yep, that's me. My mémère made food for an army when we'd go for our Sunday dinner every week. She showed her love by piling food on top of food on that dinner table. And boy, could she cook! But she barely ate. It's only know that I've started to get how that works. The act of offering food is satisfying, but people don't need to eat the entire thing to show their appreciation. And once I've made a dish for guests, I've usually tasted and tested my way through the cooking process and don't have much of an appetite. Strangely, if I'm eating something I didn't prepare myself, like let's say, a take-out pizza, then I actually want to eat the whole thing. How does that work? Not sure, but it's something I've noticed and I need to be keep it under control. So, what is my sinful food? It's definitely
