I've struggled with weight for most of my life. I've never been one for drastic diets and measures, but I've done quite a few over the course of my life trying to shed pounds. I was at a pretty decent weight in my mid-twenties (some would still say overly "plump") and pretty happy about it. Then I got sick. Through the magic of inflammatory bowel disease I lost 40 pounds in two months. Under goal weight, finally! And then...prednisone. After almost two years on that nasty, nasty drug I was VERY overweight and have continued to struggle ever since.

Hi, I'm the heaviest IBD sufferer in the world! Maybe not, but that's how I feel. I had begun to have success again over a year ago through a challenge at work. It seemed easier when there was an entire group of us holding each other accountable. I started a short weight-loss challenge at my current job at the end of the school year, and was successful with that as well. Around June, things started to change. Although I was eating the same amount and exercising regularly, weight started creeping back on. And on. And on. What the hell? Hellooooo, hypothyroidism!

I just started meds within this last week to get they hypothyroidism in check, so hopefully that will at least stop the weight from creeping on. Unfortunately, I've had to put my after work exercise aside due to a sick pet who needs to be let out as soon as I get off work so I'm going to have to be creative on working exercise into my day. It almost feels as though the odds are stacked against me; then again, they've been stacked against me many times in my life and I've come through just fine.

Besides...money is quite the motivator, isn't it? ;)

Things I've got going for me? I'm not afraid of hard work, I love a challenge, and once I set my mind to something, I'm like a bulldog. Oh yeah, and I want to be healthy too. 10.1 pounds in 4 weeks. Let the challenge begin!
