I’ve identified a bad habit of mine that is thwarting my weight loss goals:

WEEKENDS!

I know, I know, we all know that weekends are hard, and that studies have shown that it’s completely common for people to eat a majority of their calories on the weekends and so on and so forth.  Well, all this year my boyfriend has been working really odd shifts at work. Sometimes he works overnights, sometimes it’s late at night, usually it’s super early in the morning, and his days off are irregular. I only go in to teach once a week, so his schedule has a bigger influence on when my “weekends” are than the calendar, so it took me awhile to recognize a habit we have. The second the two of us finally have a day together and end up on the couch playing the “’What do you want to do?’ …. ‘I don’t know. What do you want to do’” game I start craving beer and junk foods. Then we end up sitting around drinking, eating, and watching good old Netflix. We do love doing this, but I finally realized how much of a habit it has become for us. So we made a deal yesterday; next day off we have together, which is Tuesday, we are going to do SOMETHING ELSE. So far the plan is to go mini golfing, which we haven’t done since our second date over 3 years ago. There are also tennis courts at our apartment complex that we have been talking about using (we stink at tennis, but chasing the ball around is great exercise). Before Tuesday I’ll make some sort of healthy dinner I can stick in the freezer so we have a super-easy-to-prepare meal for dinner that should stave off the delivery pizza temptation.  Hooray for identifying a bad habits and coming up with some alternative action plans! Hopefully this will improve my progress. Happy Wednesday to everyone!
