Round Goals

The object of the game is to maintain your initial weight for 12 months, with a +2% allowance to allow for daily fluctuations (you can also lose up to 4%). To make that easier, we break the Maintainer into 12 rounds, each with its own pot, giving you regular accountability and incentives. That means if you stay within -4% to +2% of your weight all year, you can cash out 12 times!

Miss a goal for a round? Don’t worry—you can still win the next round and the Grand Prize at the end of Round 12. Half the bets are spread across the first 11 rounds, and the winners of Round 12 split the other half. The goal for each round is the same, though you MUST be between -4% and +5% of your initial weight by the end of Round 11 to be eligible to win the final pot. This is to prevent unsafe sprints at the end.

Rounds 1-10: between -4% and +2%

Round 11: between -4% and +2% to win; within -4% and +5% to qualify for Round 12 (MANDATORY)

Round 12: between -4% and +2% (MANDATORY)

How do we verify your weight?

For all official weigh-ins, you'll be prompted to submit your official starting weight. Our standard weigh-in process involves you submitting 2 photos: one of you standing on a scale in lightweight clothing (no shoes, hats, belts, watches, coats, or outerwear), and another of the scale’s readout with your weigh-in word written on a piece of paper.

What you'll need

  • A scale (preferably digital)
  • A digital camera or smartphone
  • A full-length mirror or someone to take your photo

It is the first day of summer, and I'm feeling a bit guilty. I've been eating like crap since Memorial Day, and I have not really moved the scale in one direction or the other. As far as the bet goes, this is not a problem - I will weigh in within the range and continue to 'maintain'. It seems that as long as I continue exercising regularly, there are no repercussions for neglecting the diet. Is there anyone else who has fallen into this kind of trap? Are there any pointers out there to try to reinforce the healthy meal choices? I end up eating out 2-4 times per week, and this is where the bad choices mostly occur... Would love to hear how others tackle these types of challenges.

I have found that there are certain really healthy things that I LOVE that are loaded with flavor like tabouli, roasted veggies with balsamic drizzle, avocado salads, etc. I make lots of these things and keep leftovers in the fridge so whenever I have the urge to munch, I can take out tabouli and scarf it because it makes me happier than scarfing down potato chips. Think of foods that are a delicious indulgence but still healthy and keep them on hand to divert you from a bad food choice.

I have been more lenient too, and am able to keep the scale under control but I was feeling crappy and having some issues. Cleaned my diet back up and I feel noticeably better.

They say weight management is 20% exercise, 80% food. I bring a huge Tupperware to work each Monday that is filled with salad fixings. Then all week long in the office I make something from my salad bar. I bring fruit as snacks. Eating out and getting fast food for lunch just kills all the hard exercise you put in!

Creative workout in a busy day with youngest kid home but older who can watch him still at school today. Jog/ walk with him 1.5 miles. The 4 hill sprints outside my house with him timing me. Not what I planned but better then skipping a run totally.

Thank you! Just stuck me as odd that round 2-11 all have the same pot except this one round. I will be interested to see what happens.

- Most Liked Comment: "I should have joined a maintainer game long ago. I follow WW and it has taken me more than 9 months to lose 31 lbs. I have lost several DietBets because I could not lose 4% in a month. There have been months that I have lost less than 2 lbs.Now that I am in a maintaner I have lost just shy of 4%! I am eating exactly the same! Luckily, I am leaving on vacation in a few days so now I have some leeway!" by Suzanne A.
Good luck in Round 3!

Ugh - just made it but at my 2% max gain. Forgot to weigh in this morning which didn’t help but I definitely need to get back on track - no more indulging multiple days a week. I’ve been getting lazy about avoiding things that I know I shouldn’t eat & haven’t been making time to exercise either
