Interesting. But I think willpower in relation to health can be self-perpetuating - the more you use it the easier it gets (that's somewhere between when you start using willpower and when the new thing becomes a habit). Maybe that's why we need lots of rest when we're doing things that require more willpower?

Gale R

Once you get in the groove...it gets easier, not easy, but easier. Yes we can (actually, I have....I just need to maintain.....and, I want others to do what I did) !!

Exactly right! I'll sometimes log the food I bring to work before I eat it for extra motivation to eat well.

Right there with you, if I put my w/o clothes out, water bottle filled, towel in bag, I do it. I even go so far as to put my keys next to my bag (I get up at 4:30am, easier to find when only one eye open!) Whatever it takes I say!

You are focused ....some days are easier than others! As for as socializing, my temptation is the Wine! On weekends, my hubby and I forget about the diet and usually gain back what we have tried so hard to lose during the week! Willpower on weekends sux! I have to be more disciplined ..... Dietbet makes it more interesting! I am ready to see a new me in 28 days! I hope that for all of you too, let's have fun together and I am sure we can do this!

I can relate to people offering food, insisting I should just try some or just have one piece. After about 6 months of me explaining my diet plan, they FINALLY stopped asking. You just have to be strong, and dont be afraid to offend your family members. Sometimes the closest people in your life can be your worst enemy when it comes to dieting. They don't understand what you are doing and don't want to see you make big changes in your life.
It's great they made a cake for the BBQ. Why do you have to destroy your diet just to make them happy? Make yourself happy and control your choices. :) Stand up to your family and eventually they will understand your journey and support you!

Thank you! That really is what it's about. I also find myself more able to discern between emotional hunger and physical hunger. If my mind is screaming for high-calorie comfort food and I know my calorie count is about where it should be, that's emotional hunger, not physical.

Jojo

Check out the Super Shred Diet (Ian K Smith, MD). You are never hungry on this diet! I love it! I just have to remember that weekends count too, and we like Wine, so, it's hard to change some habits!
