  • WELCOME TO WEEK TWO!

You don’t need a rack of weights to challenge your muscles. Your body weight, resistance bands, water bottles, canned goods, and even a loaded laundry basket can provide resistance.

The key is to choose a manageable challenge and use slow, controlled movements. As an exercise becomes easier, you can gradually add repetitions, use a little more resistance, or try a slightly more challenging version.

This week’s challenge: Using weights if you have them or an item with some weight (water bottle, can of soup, etc), incorporate some bicep curls to your ability. 3 days a week can make a difference! And don't worry about how many! Just do them until you can tell the next one won't be good form!

What do you have at home that could double as simple exercise equipment?

I used to do Leslie Sansone, too! :D Lifting is so, SO good for you! It's incredible the ways it benefits our bodies! I haven't heard of a lifting class, but I think I'd like that! Classes can be so motivating! I'm going to check out to see if that's something in my area! Thanks for that!

Louessence

I did my usual 5km walk today but added a 5kg weighted vest - definitely got a bigger sweat on than normal!
I love Leslie sansone, she's such an encourager and inspiration ?
Tomorrow I'm trying out a gym class with my physio, am excited to try something new.

  • OUR FIRST WEEKEND IS HERE! 🙌

Strength-building doesn’t have to happen in one long session. A few minutes while dinner cooks, a set of wall push-ups before your shower, or some calf raises while brushing your teeth can all fit into a busy day.

Try connecting one movement to something you already do. That existing routine becomes your reminder, so you don’t have to depend entirely on motivation or memory.

Weekend challenge: Choose one daily activity and pair it with a brief strength movement. Please choose something safe and comfortable for your body.

What activity will become your strength-building reminder?

  • READY FOR OUR FIRST MINI CHALLENGE?

Today, try a simple “sit-to-stand.” Sit in a sturdy chair, place your feet firmly on the floor, and stand up using control. Sit back down slowly and repeat as many times as feels comfortable. Use your hands for support if needed.

This everyday movement strengthens muscles we use for getting out of chairs, climbing stairs, and staying steady on our feet. If chair stands aren’t right for your body, choose another safe movement such as wall push-ups, seated leg extensions, or lifting light household objects.

No special equipment. No gym membership. Just a few minutes devoted to getting stronger!

Which movement did you choose, and how did it feel?

I’ve been on a slow and steady weight gain since I had my twins 3.5 years ago. We’re ready for number 3 and have been deep in IVF the last 5 months and now just needed a little break and a boost to get me back on track eating right! Goal is portion control and making the right choices and more exercise!! 4-5 times a week either treadmill some weights or a reformer class. Gotta move at 39!! Good luck all!

My big goal for this challenge is just to MOVE MORE! I’m challenging myself to exercise at least 3 days, every week. I just finished day one, of a 45 minute brisk walk.

  • Today’s lunch. I replaced the dressing with the lite Italian and saved about 100 calories. 🎉

DietBet Laura

Yumm! Yeah, dressings are sneaky lil devils! And some salads have such tasty ingredients that they don't even need anything! A favorite around here is buying honey mustard. A little goes a long way and is way lower than dressings!

  • HAPPY GAME DAY! 🎉

Let’s begin with one important message: Strength is for everyone.

Building muscle doesn’t have to mean lifting heavy weights or spending hours at the gym. Chair squats, wall push-ups, resistance bands, carrying groceries, and working in the yard can all challenge our muscles.

Stronger muscles support our joints, bones, balance, posture, and everyday independence. They help us get out of chairs, climb stairs, carry bags, and keep doing the activities we love.

This week’s challenge: Choose one simple strength-building movement and try it a few times. Start where you are. There’s no need to prove anything!

What movement would help you feel stronger in your everyday life?

This week I'm on the road and away from the gym, I'm planning to do the old 7 minute app with the squats, lunges, wall sit, plank, etc., if it still exists - it's been awhile between uses!

DietBet Laura

Louessence, being on the road definitely makes things harder to stay on our habits! Good for you for having a plan! That's most of the battle! You got this!

Does anybody else always feel like like September is a chance for a fresh start? New pens and notebooks. Fresh chance to improve our health!!

Absolutely! Especially because it's spring time where I live and the layers are coming off :joy:

Yes! This thought crossed my mind the other day! It's nice to have a mid-year reset feeling! :D
