  • This is me at yesterday's St Albans Half Marathon, my sixth of the year. A respectable (for me anyway) 2h20 given that it was relentlessly hilly. Very hard work, but all the more rewarding for it. They gave out ice lollies and flap jacks at the end, but given that I burned over 2200 calories according to my fitness tracker, I hope you'll forgive me for eating them!

Ok, this getting silly now..... I just ran a 5k PB in 28:14 beating a four year old record by 20 seconds! Since starting DietBet and losing 32lbs so far since Jan 1, I’ve set new personal records at 1k, 1 Mile ( 3 times in a week!), 3k, 5k, 10k, 10miles (4 times) and the half marathon (3 times). Absolutely incredible! This is exactly why I started Dietbet: Use it as a competive incentive to improve my running. I am very, very pleased with it!

Sunday: Westminster Mile, new PB by 16 seconds
Monday:Rest (but I did take my dog on a four mile walk)
Tuesday: Rest
Wednesday: “casual” 5 mile run ended up being within 20 seconds of my PB
Thursday: Rest
Friday: 10k morning run, new PB by 1 minute and 12 seconds.

  • My and my daughter at the end of last Sunday’s Westminster Mile. I recorded an official time of 8:01: a PB by 16 seconds (beating the time set at the same event last year). The finish line is right outside Buckingham Palace.

It's nice to join your group. I have been running for a year to loose weight. I just lost 36 pounds and put 10 back on so I'm trying to find creative ways to maintain my weight and loose a few more pounds. DietBet was perfect! How long have you guys been on DietBet and have you won any competitions.

A big bounce back today from last weeks hard half marathon. This morning I ran 10 Miles in 1:43:01. My second best 10 miler ever. Not only that but it was a negative split with the second half within 34 seconds of my best ever 5 mile time! It’s important that we understand that one ‘bad’ run doesn’t make you a bad runner. Just bank the mileage and move on.

Yes. I have a Garmin Forerunner 235 watch. It’s been working flawlessly for 18 months and still gets good reviews online. It records data to the Garmin website - but only after I return home and plug it into my internet connected PC.

Ok, thanks, I can tell I'm going to have to spend a little to get the information I want

  • Me at the Milton Keynes Half Marathon yesterday. At 2h31,it was my slowest of the year, but it was run in temperatures of around 80F. Looking at this picture and comparing it to my other posts, I can definitely see the positive changes over time since I started DietBet.

Have you heard of the Galloway method? You run in intervals. I currently use a 1 minute run and 30 second walk, but you can play with them and figure out what works best for you. It's a great way to rehabilitate yourself and get back in condition, and then run injury-free. Good luck and good for you for getting back out there!

I feel you, but I'm fighting to get back out there. I'm trying to find a way to maintain my weight by changing my lifestyle.
