Well, it seems I haven't completely blown it this round, despite being ridiculously undisciplined on every level. Two pounds left to go, so I might meet my goal. I have two take-aways from that. 1. What I'm doing overall is working. 2. Even if you go off rails, you can learn from it, and get back on track. I'm working towards healthy aging (I'm 51) because I work in healthcare and see what a lack of mobility can do. I want to head into my 60s in great shape. That's my ultimate long term goal. So I'm in this for the long haul. To everyone who killed it this week, right on! To everyone who just got by, or fell back a little, keep going. You will get there eventually if you just keep going.

Working towards healthy aging is an admirable goal! My father had a stroke at 67. The fact he had a high level of fitness before the stroke was beneficial to the recovery process. One of the things I took away from that experience is that mobility matters.

Mobility is huge. I see what a lack of mobility can do to my patients. I have spry 80 year olds that could run laps around me, and I have immobile peers that seem like they are already 90. Now mind you I'm speaking about mobility we can control by gaining and maintaining flexibility, and by staying active. There are people who have a lack of mobility through no fault of their own. However even they can do stretches, chair yoga, etc., that can help them maximize what they are capable of. It really is a choice for a lot of people, and the key is to make the effort so you can reap the rewards.
