Just realized I have gotten really bad sleep apnea from being overweight. My BMI is 38% (277lbs) looking into it more, anything over a 17inch neck also contributes to sleep apnea and mine is 19 1/2. So I really need to get this weight off these past few nights I have woken up about 20 times from my sleep because I couldn't breathe.... It's killing me.... Literally....

My dad was recently diagnosed with sleep apnea and had had a cpap for a few months and says he’s amazed by how well rested he feels, now! Wishing you all the best on your road to better health AND sleep!!

Thank you for your well wishes!

Alright. So I’ve always been pretty good at losing weight faster than most in the early stages of a diet/gym regimen. What should I do if I’m flirting in the DQ limits of weight loss each round? I don’t want to start eating everything just to try and stay within the limits do I?

I mean I started at 264. Cutting fast food and soda and a little gym is going to hit fast.

Thoughts?

I'd say eat more. If you're going to lose faster than the DQ limits (which are generous as it is), then at least consult a doctor about your plan. There are health conditions that could justify a need for a rapid loss -- in which case this game would have a low priority -- but, for most of us, steadier, slower loss is going to lead to better long-teem habits.

Weigh in at night after you’ve had a decent eating day.

Get ready for the final weigh-in for Round 1! Once the round ends on Jan 31 at midnight PST, you have until 11:59PM PST on Feb 2 to submit your final weight for the round. Remember that weighing in and winning each round guarantees your maximum payout at the end of the game. Even if you're not a winner, please submit your weight and photos.

Once the weigh-in period begins, you will get a new weigh-in word when you visit the game. Submit early to make sure your photos are accepted, and look for an email that confirms your photos are approved! (If you don't get one, check your spam folder.) You must have an approved weigh-in in order to be declared a winner for this round.

The round will finalize 24-36 hours after all weigh-ins have been submitted. Good luck!

So the payouts for each round aren’t paid out until the end? Just curious how it all works.

Heather B.

That is correct. You will see a tally of your wins and the amounts throughout, but payouts aren't paid until the very end

  • I just arrived at my yoga retreat at a castle in the country. I was a bit worried about the food situation, but so far it's hearty salad and soups. Some date balls and tea.

Did my first workout at the gym and LOVED it! I can't wait to go back tomorrow. The home workouts were fun but now I've got weight machines and all kinds of fun stuff! Still trying to figure out how losing weight and strength training can coincide. Never did strength training before :)

Thank you all! Everyone has some really good points. I am doing a protein supplement after my workouts. It's whey isolate protein and I added collagen peptides in the morning. I definitely did see a slight gain in the beginning but am now seeing a little weight loss. Definitely not as much as usual when I'm JUST trying to lose weight. I appreciate everyone's feedback. I'm going to keep these things in mind and push forward and keep going! :)

You may gain a little weight in the first few weeks but don't freak out. The first weight gain is fluid and it will come off. If you are in a calorie deficit, you won't be gaining muscle mass but you won't be losing it either. Weight training is protective of your lean mass. The benefit is that you'll eventually be smaller even at the same weight and you will be able to consume a few more calories without gaining fat. But don't fall into the trap of eating more just because you worked out. The reality is that most people vastly overestimate how much they burned in exercise and end up eating more than they burned.
