I NEED ADVICE. I have been overweight since I was 8 years old. Now I am super morbidly obese. Every time I do a weight loss program I usually lose around 10-30 pounds and then I go back to my normal way of eating. I always end up self sabotaging myself. I don’t remember a life without weight problems. How do you all get over the urge to sabotage your progress?

Start with small changes...like drink water and not calories... a lot of ppl can lose weight just not drinking the stuff they drink. Then quit eating things out of a box or bag. Things that spike your blood sugar will make you feel hungry when your blood sugar starts to come down making you feel like you need to eat again when you don’t. Keep your blood sugar low and level and you won’t feel hungry. Weaning yourself from processed foods will really help your mental state too. Just because you have the ability to produce insulin doesn’t mean you should abuse it...I try really hard to not eat things that spike my blood sugar including starches bc insulin tells your body to store fat.

I know a lot of people on here do keto, intermittent fasting or calorie counting. I follow a WFPB diet (whole food plant based) and follow a 50/50 plate rule. I feel great! I have done keto & fasting and lost 30 pounds but then gave into a craving and gained it all back and then some. I started this DietBet at 332lbs and I’ve lost nearly 10 pounds so far (2/3rd of the way to my goal) and have found healthy solutions to my cravings and my anxiety is getting better. I totally agree with Jacy! I have big half gallon water bottle that I bought at Walmart but I very rarely can hit my water goal when I use that. I do the best with a smaller 1 qt bottle with a straw. Fun colored water bottles help too!

That bottle is awesome :joy:

  • Hi, everyone! I’ve joined this bet to get myself back on the wagon ASAP. I just spent all of Thanksgiving weekend indulging and doing nothing but watching movies and reading. Lots of calories in but very little out. 😬 My weight is up a bit (it’s to be expected) so I’m ready to get back at it.

I’ve lost a little over 100 lbs since 2015. I started at 315 lbs. and I’m now so close to breaking into the 100s! The road here has included an engagement, a wedding, a rough pregnancy, new motherhood, PPD, being a teacher during a pandemic... it’s been a wild ride of ups and downs. However, I’m currently at my lowest weight in over a decade.

I’m glad to be here with you all, finishing 2020 strong!

Posting my goals (for the next four weeks) for accountability. Feel free to challenge me any time and ask if I’ve achieved them. I need you guys to push me!

1. 80 oz of water each day
2. 10,000 steps each day
3. Exercise at least 4 times a week
4. Two sodas or less each week (my great weakness!)—shooting for zero, but let’s be realistic! 😀

Anyone else have some SMART goals they want to share?

Katie , MelissaM102117 and like this comment.

Those are great goals!! You got this!! My goals are
1. A gallon of water a day (I'm nursing a 10 month old)
2. Workouts 5 days a week
3. Clean up my diet and focus mainly protein and veggies. Carbs and sugar are my weakness.

MelissaM102117

SMART goals... Are you an educator?! LOL

I have some, as well. My steps, water, and activity goals need to be upped, for sure!
