  • Don’t mind my dirty mirror, but this morning I hit my lowest weight in YEARS. Like, we’re talking in a decade... so thrilled! I’m currently 226.2 and that means I’m 26.3 lbs from my first big goal, which is to be under 200 by January!

    If you’re wondering, my highest recorded weight is 315. I started this particular weight loss journey on April 24, 2020 at 285.9. That means I’ve lost 59.7 lbs in 5 months!

I need tips for portion control, please!! My portions are ridiculous. Any great ideas or websites would be appreciated. I'm not looking to buy anything new - so no portion kits or anything like that, please! I do have a kitchen scale if you can recommend a good website for amounts. I'm trying to avoid calorie counting because I get a bit obsessive, but I might have to go that route to get back on track. I was hoping just doing the Dietbet would help, but between work and managing virtual school for kiddo, I've been eating mindlessly and way too much!!

Maybe try filling plate with veggies first then small space for other stuff. Don't sit down with the bag or box of anything either. Homemade figure a serving is usually half a cup.

Try using a side plate for your meals instead of a dinner plate. A full plate is an illusion to the eyes that you are getting more food but you are automatically then reducing your intake. Also I find eating slower and mindfully stops me from guzzling a Whole plate of food. Good Luck

I’m really enjoying this whole DietBet thing so far. Definitely keeps me motivated! I’m going to try and sign up for a new one as soon as this one ends and keep that up til the end of the year. If I can average a 3lb loss per week, I can be under 200 for the first time in many years by the end of the year. I have mini goals set between now and then, but that’s my first big goal!

What protein drinks/snacks do you like? So far I’ve tried premier protein cafe latte and chocolate and evolve (plant based -chocolate. ) I’m trying to avoid hunger rampages through the kitchen.

I did premier protein vanilla or caramel mixed with 1-2 tbsp of instant coffee a little bit of water and cup of ice, it was awesome

  • I took my first Cycle Bar class tonight. I didn’t finish last in my class (6th of 8) and I didn’t stop the entire 45 minutes. I burned 633 calories and definitely felt accomplished in the end. It was so different from any running, kickboxing, or CrossFit I’ve ever done, but I enjoyed it.

Is anybody doing keto and/or intermittent fasting? After considering my health needs, I've decided to switch from calorie counting to combining the two.
I'm open to any tips.
I will be using as many whole foods, organic, etc... foods as possible. Kidneys require decreased sodium - so no bacon free for alls for me lol.

Thanks guys! I am actually making the change because I'm listening to my body and how I feel with higher carbs. Additionally, DNA testing showed that I have a high need for fat consumption. I have a rare kidney condition and some other autoimmune stuff that lends itself to higher inflammation, so given the research which shows decreased inflammation with low sugar/low carb consumption it really makes sense. Just a couple days in and my hands don't feel as puffy when I wake up.
The first time I ever had a noticeable weight gain was when I worked at a bagel store in my 20s and could eat for free. (Those everything bagels fresh out of the oven, though!

Looks great! Not sure what kind of sour cream you use but I actually use Fage 0% Greek yogurt. It makes an awesome substitute and has lots of protein. Just thought I’d share :grimacing: Good luck on your journey!
