  • Food Tip: Keep Trigger Foods Out Of Sight!

    Try keeping healthy foods right where you can see them, and stash unhealthy ones in a hard-to-reach cupboard, or just don't keep them around at all.
    I usually avoid having chips and ice cream around. Do you have any trigger foods?

Aarrrrrgggghhhhh! Trigger foods! Gosh, do I only have to state a few? I love candies, cakes, cookies, and ice cream, but I also love rice, red meat, and other delicacies. And for some reason pregnancy changed my taste buds to like sweets I used to abhor (can anyone say chocolate cake--I mean like, hone.eade rich chocolate cake!). Thats why for me I had to create a lifestyle change that deliberately includes adding vegetables into eeeeeeeeeevrything! If I can figure out a way to stuff it in--I try!

I own a bakery…literally my entire workplace is filled with trigger foods! Chocolate eclairs, Bavarian pretzels, almond croissants! Since I can’t avoid the trigger foods, I made “anti-trigger foods” and put them on the menu so I’d have a healthy alternative. Trail bread (high protein, low salt and sugar), tomato soup (veggies!), yogurt parfaits, peanut butter energy balls. Ok, that last one has chocolate chips in it, but at least they’re dark chocolate!

  • We know that exercise helps us burn more calories each day helping us lose weight. And combining exercise with a healthy diet is even a more effective way to lose weight than depending on calorie restriction alone.

    But, exercise is also incredibly good for your mental health, and it can help you manage stress and unwind!

  • Second to mindset, I think what we eat is the part of our weight loss plan that makes the biggest difference. There are a lot of popular food plans out there, and a lot of eating strategies.

    What works for you? What has come the closest to being your favorite eating strategy for weight loss? For me, my greatest success has come from tracking my calories and upping my intake of fruit and vegetables. So what is your current food plan?

I think for me what has really just helped me and I've said this before and I'll say it again is just establishing some levels of accountability at every layer of my lifestyle. Whether that is at work, in my home, or other places where I find myself eating!! Sometimes it's internal accountability and sometimes it's things like a diet bat. But all in all I have found not cutting anything out has been key and giving myself A-day once a week where I can truly just relax and eat whatever I want ! I have always been someone who loved to exercise so thankfully that has not been an issue for me!

I've always been a healthy eater and loved exercising. So when i was gaining weight i didnt know what to do. I'd exercise more, eat less and never go anywhere but up. One thing I've realized is that no matter how good i eat or how much exercise i do if i didn't get my cortisol (STRESS) levels down nothing would change. So for me it was finding a healthy balance at work. Hiring another person, waking up without an alarm, leaving work early instead of late. And finally to just sell the business. The 11 years of owning a nonstop 24 hr business has put my health in jeopardy. We sold in April and went on a long 2 month vacation to relax. Once we got back in August i started my health journey. So far im down 16 lbs and it seems to be coming off much easier than in the past.

  • I want to encourage you to think about how much water you're getting daily. Being well hydrated is so beneficial for weight loss and good health!

    Here's a great reason to drink plenty of water:
    Drinking enough water is essential for burning off fat from food and drink, as well as stored fat!

    Many of you have probably already set a personal daily water goal for yourselves, how many ounces a day are you aiming for? How do you track your intake?

My goal is half a gallon. I use the hydroflask 64oz water bottle to help me stay on point. I add some lemon, cucumber, and mint to make my water taste yummy.


I drink 1 gallon every day. I have rotating 32 ounce Nalgene bottles that live in the fridge waiting so they are nice and cold all day long.

    I'm so glad you're part of this awesome group. Some of you are beginning your weight loss journey, some are nearing the end, or maybe you're somewhere in the middle. Most likely you have a number in mind as your ultimate goal weight! But, no matter how close you are to that, a plan to succeed is so beneficial. My challenge for you is share your plan to re-inspire yourself and others, or sit down and form a plan if you haven't yet. If you're at the beginning think of just one thing you can do today to make yourself healthier as a starting point, no matter how small. That success will propel you forward. Think small goals that will lead you to your big goals! And just for fun let us know where you're from. I'm in Southern UT!
