I've gained 0.5 kg since Friday :( I lost my motivation. Last week started well, I ran on Tuesday and Thursday, but I couldn't covince myself to go for a third run on Saturday or Sunday.
How do you motivate yourself to exercise when it's dark and cold outside? Maybe I should buy a threadmill but they are sooo expensive :/

@ Katinka K.- always try to buy a treadmill used. I'm more than sure you can find one in local ads. 95% of used treadmills have HARDLY any use and sit in people's homes as clothes racks.
As for motivation, that comes and goes. It's CONSISTENT ROUTINE that matters. If you're routine is to exercise on the WEEKENDS and you follow through consistently, you don't need much motivation.

I look at the short term goal, literally today’s goals. I don’t worry about tomorrow or what I didn’t do yesterday.

I make sure I drink my 2-4L of water. Check!
I go for a 45-60 min walk or split my walks into two 30min walks around the block. Check!
I make sure that my meal time of full of protein laden foods with crunchy greens. Check!
And I challenge myself to recognize non-hunger while I’m fasting and acknowledge it and get past it. Check!

I always reward myself at the end of the day with a macadamia milk latte. It’s a treat I few as adult hot chocolate without all the sugar.

Then I go to bed accomplished and wake up tomorrow and try to do it all over again.

I don’t exercise other than walking because I’m disabled. Weight loss for me is a bit slower than others but it’s consistent.

I'm probably not going to reach my round one goal for this game, which if you know me is just killing me. But in light of the past two weeks, I'm not that upset about it. My wife and I tested positive for COVID last week, and the symptoms I felt actually started two weeks ago today. Fortunately we were vaccinated, so that made the symptoms not severe at all. But it meant being trapped at home (we even had someone go and shop for groceries for us once) and NO real exercise at all to speak of, since part of the problem was the fatigue that set in easily.

I guess the best thing that has come from this is that despite being stuck inside with all the food, I've been able to maintain my weight. Maintenance has always been a problem for me, so I feel like this is somewhat of a win.

If I don't make it by November 5, I'll be there for round two, and round three after that, and I will win this overall game!

Feel better & rest up!! So happy to hear you were vaccinated !! If the weather ok, go take a walk outside ! The fresh air will be good for you both !

I feel your pain! My husband got it, and now I have it. It’s been frustrating. Like you, I really need exercise. We’re in the long game for a reason! Hope you and your wife recover quickly!

I wish I could do cardio, but I have COPD. I walk a lot. Thankfully my copd is mild and allows that.

My father has had COPD for 20 years, his preferred method of exercise is walking!

The doctor doesn’t suggest I run at this point due to my weight so I’m only able to walk but it works for me and I really enjoy it so I stick with it. Find different trails to walk on. It keeps things interesting.

2 more weeks in this round!

How’s everybody doing?

Have you reached your goal yet, almost there or making the grand push these last 14 days?

Grand push here over remaining days before check in.

I reached my goal to the exact but I want to lose 1-2 more lbs before weigh in just to make sure it stays at the goal and already in progress for next month.

Messed up today. It was Triple Star Day at Starbucks, so obviously I bought two breakfast sandwiches and a venti latte. Then at work I had a crum cake cupcake from a delicious bakery.

At lunch they gave me too many chips with my sandwich, which I ate.

I told my wife I wasn’t eating dinner. Little did I know she was making two of my favorites. I had small-ish portions.

Been super good so far so hopefully it doesn’t dent too much. Good thing this is a 6 month process…

One day won't kill you. It's consistently eating that way that will. Get back on track and be consistent again.

I like to have a ‘whatever I want within reason’ day every so often to help me satisfy my cravings and it only gets in the way when 1 day turns into 2 or more days! So you’ll be fine

It's coming. It happens every year and how you handle it may set up how you handle the holidays. Yep, the time of year where some people justify added weight gain. HALLOWEEN. You buy bags of candy to pass out to kids, but somehow a lot of it is eaten by you.
So what's your strategy to NOT CAVE IN?
For me, I usually get candy that's not a lot of calories per piece of candy. And that it's usually hard candy since candy that I can chew easy is much easier to consume in larger amounts. My candy of choice is Jolly Ranchers.
I DON'T buy chocolate or small packs of candy. Too easy for me to finish off one at a time.
And as I mentioned, Halloween is a day that starts the CONSTANT eating for many of the population till New Year's Day. It's how that extra 5lbs-7lbs a year on average gets put on by the average adult.
So start planning NOW so that you have an action plan to stay on target for this game.

Luckily I live in a place that doesn't get trick or treaters. Rural America for the win!

This is so true! Halloween always starts the day that I begin eating like crap for 2 months!
It’s hard for me to avoid being around treats since we have kids and will be at a gathering with others. I’m making chili and having a veggie tray so I won’t be too hungry. I’m thinking of maybe making a healthy dessert since I know I’ll want something sweet…because you are right about the chocolate…it’s too easy to eat more than one!

How often do you guys weigh yourself? Weekly? Daily? I find I can’t wait a full week but daily is too often so for me it’s every few days or so. If I have an extra good day I always weigh myself the next day😇

The choices are made each and every day plan them out carefully and don’t allow others to make them for you. So make your bed each and every morning know your menu for the day and don’t lose focus on your goals.

I have found by smoothing your sheets pulling up your blankets and placing all ten of your or your wife’s pillows just right you can start your day with a sense of accomplishment.

Leila C

Wow! 10 pillows!!! That is a great accomplishment. :raised_hands:
