Hello, I was thinking of doing fasting I have never done it before and I was wondering if anyone knows if this is something I have to do every single day or only certain days of the week.

Thanks

I also recommend the book Fast, Feast Repeat by Gin Stephens. Yes, it IS a game-changer. She has a great podcast by the same name as well. I have been intermittent fasting for 7 years and love how I feel doing it. It has many great health benefits. Now I am fine-tuning my eating within IF to lose a little more weight.

You don’t have to do it every day. As others have said read up on it. Personally I don’t like to trust a single source. I would suggest to read a few articles/books. I find IF makes me feel better and it makes it easier for me to maintain my calorie goals.

How is everyone doing? This has been a rocky start for me.....and I planned ahead by meal prepping.

Is anyone on here doing a zero carb diet (carinvore)? I have been doing it for a while but recently tried adding produce back in, and my stomach is pretty messed up. Anyways I would love some carinvore recipes if you have some. I will post my favorite in comments.

Cutting out carbs like veggies for a long time will change the microbiome in your gut and then when you add then back in you no longer have the good bacteria that you need to break them down which will cause issues. I have been told by my Dr I need to do a low fodmap diet which eliminates a lot of specific veggies which are "prebiotic" and feed specific good gut bacteria but can cause issues in large amounts. They don't recommend being on it for more than 6 weeks before reintroducing some of those things because longer than that will cause a die off of the bacteria which are needed to digest it and will likely make you feel terrible eating them until or if you can build back that bacteria population. Have you been taking probiotics? They recommend that during elimination diets to help keep your gut microbiome in balance. And carnivore or any diet that cuts out foods is going to need some support in that respect.

I’ve found that it’s far more sustainable to just avoid breads and pasta rather than cutting out all vegetables and fruits. You can always order sandwiches without a bun or on a salad etc. For example, I make sloppy joes but I put the contents inside a sweet potato. It tastes better and it’s less messy!

Who chooses a DiettBet with a start date the day before their birthday?! 😂 Poor planning on my part for a grand kickoff, but I’m working my way back the rest of this week!

Happy bday! Mine is Sat (go Aries!) so I feel ya. But I tell myself it’s good practice for life—there will always be special occasions and events and I must learn to eat healthy and make good choices always

  • Trying to set myself up for a successful week. Cooked chicken breast and wild cod. Also veggies washed and cut ready for snacking, sautéing or salads. I hope everyone has a great week!

What is everyone doing to get the extra pounds off? I think I am doing lean meats with mostly veggies and some fruit.

That’s about right - and lots of water. Treats sparingly as my calorie budget allows keeps me from going too crazy from deprivation. And water and activity are other good additions/habits.
