Hi Dietbet Buddies, I have been tracking calories and think I need a larger deficit but I hate being umcomfy and having my stomach growl. Any tips?

When I started restricting calories, I was hungry ALL THE TIME. I ended up budgeting the calories so that I could have 3 meals and 2 snacks. One snack was usually fruit (apple, 2 small oranges), the other snack was up to 2 cups raw veggies, 1 tbsp dip (cauliflower, broccoli, carrots, bell peppers).
Trust me, it gets better, but the hungry thing lasted probably for 2 or three weeks for me (sorry for that bad news!).
As some others have said, adding veggies to meals also helps - example, if I am having spaghetti now, I also cook a side of zucchini. A cup of zucchini has WAY less calories than half a cup of pasta, and will fill you right up (and it tastes great with a sprinkle of parmesan cheese).

It could be that your calories are too low or your food isn’t nutritionally dense enough. Try eating a can of tuna (~120 calories for 26g protein) or some melon and berries!

  • So, I did it. I bought the renphro scale. I made a mistake and stepped on without waking it up first, which added 4 pounds! That freaked me out. After I did everything properly, it was the same as my other scale. The bummer is that all my numbers look way worse than I feel. Body fat percentage 👎. Metabolic age (4 years older than I am)👎. Vegan Dad - I don't know how I would get everything green??!!

I never knew what the colours meant until now LOL I thought they just used different colours to be cute :joy:

Make sure you enter your measurements! The longer you use the scale, the more you'll like it I think. There have been times that I've been so frustrated, but then I look back at measurements from a few months ago or look at the graphs and even though I still have a lot of room to improve, I can see that I'm moving in the right direction.

  • (Vulnerability post here) this pic epitomizes my 48 year old self:
    1. I am strong. I just started another round of LIIFT4 today and I love it so much!
    2. My "bingo wing" is here to stay. There things about my body that are hereditary that cannot be changed without plastic surgery. (Which is not the right choice for me).

I HATE these underarms. And I LOVE my biceps! ❤😊😭

Growing up, I always longed for a flat stomach and never thought about my arms.😂 But now, I see these things (the same arms of my mom and her mom before her) and I sigh. I'm trying to appreciate what they can do rather than how they look, but it's hard...

Your arms look great I’d be happy to switch with you any day. March 2017 I was seriously injured at work and damage the nerve endings in my chest. For over nine months I couldn’t lay down and I needed help to get out of a chair. To this day I cannot do upper body exercises. I tried to do 1 pound weights a while back and in three days I was in so much pain I felt like the day that I got injured at work. i’ve also tried doing my rowing machine and my gazelle. My doctor said you cannot do that you permanently damaged your nerve endings in your chest. So unfortunately I have to live with flabby arms and ut bugs the heck out of me. It reminds me of my grandmother is when I would visit. So if you want to switch I’m up for it anytime you name the place. You’re doing great really proud of you and I love to read your post.

Aww. PD. Thanks for the wonderful reminder to appreciate what my body can do...and how it looks. Hugs:heart:. And, I'm so proud of you for all of your hard work against all health obstacles!

I was going to take a few weeks off after the last transformer to continue my recovery from surgery. But I realized that was just another of my many excuses, so here I am!

Good luck to you!! I have a genetic disease that caused my cirrhosis (along with emphysema as a bonus!!). I know how difficult it is!! Keep up the great work, your body will thank you for it!! You looks years younger!!

Chris R. Thank you! Thank you for sharing that. That must be very difficult for you. Is it something you had from an early age, or more of a progressive thing? I may be coming close to understanding! I also have a genetic condition where one of my kidneys failed to form. So this tremendous weight I’ve been carrying around is taxing my one kidney badly and it’s about double the size of normal one. How it is that I DON’T already have diabetes, I don’t know.

There are so many reasons to take care of my health, but it’s my brain that gets in my way. Needing a sugar fix emotionally. Putting off going on my next diet until “tomorrow”. Then after way too many tomorrows I throw up my hands and say to myself, “Oh, what’s the use??” I also have PTSD from childhood trauma and on all kinds of meds for depression etc.. Those meds in and of themselves make gaining weight just that much easier (but hey, I’m not suicidal!) Good luck to you in the next game!

  • Fell off the bandwagon this round, didn’t make goal (again), BUT I’m here and ready to get my booty in gear for round 3! I can still move forward and that is my plan! 😁💪????

Started this round off with a solid 4 mile hike. Happy 4th everyone!! 🎆

I missed it too. I was below goal for a bit, but had a family member pass and my sciatica flared, and ate a few stress comfort foods and with less movement, popped back up a few lbs. So onward to round 3! I'm in a good range and joined a kickstarter this month for that extra push

Tracy H.

Moving forward is always the best choice. Plus remember sometimes it’s inches lost, does not always show on the scale

  • Congratulations Team!!!!

That's not just for the winners - I know we're all feeling pretty darn amazing right now - but for everyone who stuck it out to the end. You know you have so much to be proud of too!

I made my goal like so many of you, and it feels so good! I haven't won a monthly goal in a while, so this felt like an extra feat. It has me so pumped to move on with so many of you in the Magic Transformer!

Let us know what your plans are now! Will you be rolling your winnings into the Magic Transformer, or do you have others plans for them?

  • I am still stunned at this reaction - if you are surprised at how this works, the only person you have to blame is yourself, because all the rules and payout information are available upfront on the website, even before you ever sign up for a game!

Okay, I'm done explaining things - life it too short for me to grumble all the time! Here's a happy sheep to give us reason to smile!

I really don't think anyone is being arrogant... and I'm so sorry that some feel that way. I agree that the 1/10 of 1% that are whining now should not rain on the parade of the vast majority of players. No one was forced or coerced into joining this game. At my house $175-$210 is a significant amount of money and we would not spend or invest it without being fully informed of the terms of the investment. Anyone who plunked down their money without FIRST educating themselves... well, I just don't think you can blame DB for that. No where was it stated that DB made their money off of membership fees only and that players split the entire pot. DB is very upfront about their administrative fees, which are reasonable given the product they deliver.

Okay, I'm with Keith. While I am sad about the negative posts and hard feelings, I'll focus on that happy sheep!

lost 18 pounds this game and somehow managed to maintain it being 10 weeks pregnant. DietBet, I’ll be back again in 8 months
