I really don’t want to work out today. Really, really don’t want to. I’m a teacher and it’s spring break. Today is the only day that I have with my children out of the house. It’s also the first day of period. There is almost nothing I want more than to lounge in my couch with candy, chips, and maybe some ice cream and just binge.

Almost nothing. Except...I do want to be in the Healthy BMI category for the first time in nearly 20 years. And I want to have energy to run around and play with my kids. And I want to be confident in my own skin. And I really want to win that freaking Step Bet that I signed up for (I just need one more power day and two active days to win the 6 week long bet).

So, I will get up and get on that damn elliptical and get enough steps for a power day. Then, I will shower, get into comfy clothing, eat some junk food (portioned out), and enjoy the rest of my day on the couch. Because it’s all about balance after all.

  • You can do it. I’m a teacher too, so I know how exhausted you’re feeling. Don’t go to the gym, go for a walk somewhere pretty. The sunlight (Vitamin D) will give you a real mood boost. This is where I walked a couple of days ago to start my Term break, and I started to feel so much more energised afterwards. This is a lovely autumn day in New Zealand.
