How do you verify the weight loss?

For all official weigh-ins, you'll be prompted to submit your official starting weight. Our standard weigh-in process involves you submitting 2 photos: one of you standing on a scale in lightweight clothing (no shoes, hats, belts, watches, coats, or outerwear), and another of the scale’s readout with your weigh-in word written on a piece of paper.

What you'll need

  • A scale (preferably digital)
  • A digital camera or smartphone
  • A full-length mirror or someone to take your photo

First, I just emailed the randomly selected winner from Wednesday's challenge. This person has until 11:00 am EST tomorrow to reply. If I don't hear back by then, a new name will be selected. Be sure to check out the challenge details for the weekend challenge starting tomorrow. You'll find what you need on the post titled, Challenge Winner Board.

Earlier this week, I explained the difference between Motivation and Discipline.

Brief recap:
Motivation: the reason or reasons one has for acting or behaving in a particular way.

Self Discipline: the ability to control one's feelings and overcome one's weaknesses; the ability to pursue what one thinks is right despite temptations to abandon it.

Self Discipline is choosing between what you want NOW versus what you want MOST. Remember those thoughts or feelings that drove you to join this DietBet. You were motivated to join, but now that we're on Day 5 you need to build/establish or strengthen the self discipline that will push you closer to your goal.

Stay focused. Remember why you started. Make those hard decisions that will push you closer to that goal and give you a sense of pride at the end of the day.

May I suggest continuing to stay engaged with the group? Often times I see a lot of comments in the first few days and then that starts to wane as we progress through the challenge.

What is something you are doing now to strengthen your self discipline?

Doing personal development. And also I run a fitness accountability group via Facebook. That holds me accountable because as the leader of the group, these women look up to me. My group has been going strong now for 9 months and the women and I have become a family. This keeps me moving!!!

I love the comparison between motivation and self discipline. I often have lots of the first and not so much of the second! I've been pondering on these ideas ever since you posted. My weakness is stess snacking, so I put up notes reminding myself that I can say NO to the food I don't need.
