How do you verify the weight loss?

For all official weigh-ins, you'll be prompted to submit your official starting weight. Our standard weigh-in process involves you submitting 2 photos: one of you standing on a scale in lightweight clothing (no shoes, hats, belts, watches, coats, or outerwear), and another of the scale’s readout with your weigh-in word written on a piece of paper.

What you'll need

  • A scale (preferably digital)
  • A digital camera or smartphone
  • A full-length mirror or someone to take your photo

Does this actually work?

Out of 1,039,224 DietBetters, 93.31% have lost weight during their challenges. Combined, they've lost 19,547,206 lbs and won $101,121,996. In other words...yes.

All results shown on DietBet are from actual users. Individual results may vary.

Don't take our word for it

Re: my win for Round 3....Look, I don’t think I will “win” most popular comment with this statement….but what the hell. DietBet is a bit of a scam and the owners are making an enormous amount of money from us. Imagine almost a million dollars claiming interest in a pot for 6 months…. and then DietBet owners take an enormous percentage for themselves at the end…..
But… the incentive for me is betting on myself to not lose my money which (like most if you), I work so damn hard for). This external control mechanism has helped me keep my focus so for that I am grateful. But… any delusional fantasies I had about making decent money from this over-marketed process has been crushed. Mostly because all of us are doing so well . A strange reality but rather fascinating. I don’t want any of us to fail so I guess that is the cost of not making any profit. At the end of the day, we do win more by losing our weight and becoming healthy. I’m guessing by the time we considered this weird diet-betting process, most of us have tried most anything else. At least that is true for me..so I am (in a qualified way) grateful. I do think the coaches are lovely and I like the way we receive inspiration. Dieting can be a lonely and frustrating "gig" and somehow Dietbet has helped me stay focused. I may be sounding a bit contradictory so my apologies. I have struggled with my weight for almost all of my adult life and I am finally 2 kg shy of my goal weight (which is a loss of about 75lbs or 34kg). Certainly, the incentive not to lose the bets I have made kept me a bit "OCD" for the last 20kg and I am pleased with the results. Just have to keep the weight off. As a final comment, I wonder about a dietbet game that supports "maintenance over say, 6 months to a year"? In other words, we win when we don't gain but this would only make sense for people who have lost the amount in the first instance. I would sign up for that. Your thoughts?

I think scam is harsh language, you lose the weight and you get your money back. Now that I say that I will agree that the way they promote these games is a little disingenuous. They do make it seem like there is more money to be won

Not a scam. It’s a business and support platform. I think that everyone who joins knows the premise is to do well or risk your money. I like that they will pay out 100% if everyone achieves their goal which I think rarely happens. But I do agree with the maintenance game! I would join for sure. It’s so easy to achieve the goal and then slide back into old unhealthy habits and have the weight creep back on.
