What you'll need

  • A scale (preferably digital)
  • A digital camera or smartphone

I’m only about half way there, but I’m so sick of letting myself down that I think I’m finally making progress. I’m hoping my hormones will continue to work with my goals for the rest of the month—I’m adjusting to perimenopause, and that’s been a hard route, honestly. But I’m not giving up! I’m working hard on nutrition and mindset. Every time I reach for a snack or heavily processed food, I ask myself “DINTEO?” Or Do I Need This Eating Opportunity (something my nutritionist Ilana Muhlstein came up with). It’s really helping me reach for higher quality foods and check in with myself about whether I’m actually hungry OR is it just boredom? I do need to work on remembering that lifesavers do count, though. I ate them too much in the car (hour long commute one way—need to switch to chewing gum!). How’s everyone else doing on this journey??

I love Ilana and her 2 bunnies. The saying that gets me thinking is “if you nibble it, scribble it”. So if I grab those two animal crackers from the container I have to stop and write it down which no longer makes it “grab and go”

I’m struggling. I’m in perimenopause as weak and have yet to find a good doctor who understands women’s issues at this stage of life in my area. I work out, I’ve cut calories and I cut out sugar. I work out with weights 3x a week, some weeks more. I’ve only lost 1.5 lbs so far. It’s discouraging, especially during this time of year. Work keeps bringing in treats and I continue to resist them. I hope at some point soon my body releases some of this inflammation and weight that it does not want to let go of.
