  • 9,000 steps / why does it seem like a failure not to have gotten in 10,000 steps?

Rahime S.

If that was ur goal then u have not reached it, but dont be strict on yourself

Sofie V.

Sucks you didn’t reach your goal, but you were super close! Don’t beat yourself up about it, use it as motivation next time. Btw, where I am from the national health organization states 7 to 8 thousand steps a day. Just to put in perspective that the 10 000 steps is viewed differently all around the world and is not set in stone. And if you view it that way you crushed the goal ;-P

Help, I’m struggling! :(

I do intermittent fasting. I eat low kcal and low carb and cut down my portion size. I don’t snack(only 2 times since the bet started). Only zero soda’s or water. Cut down my caffeine. I do a high energy cardio workout at least 1 hour a day 5/6 days a week and walk in a fast pace a minimum of 30 minutes daily.

In the first week I lost almost 2% of my bodyweight already. But now my weight is back to where I started?! I weigh myself same time same conditions. Is this a common thing? I feel so demotivated… Still continuing w what I am doing tho(it should work in the long term right)…

Is there anyone who can explain this?

All of you are too kind. Thank you!

It is common to see the scale bounce right back up after a rapid initial drop, and you have not actually regained the fat you lost. What you are experiencing is a classic combination of exercise-induced water retention and a natural shift in fluid balance. When you push your body the scale becomes a very unreliable narrator. Stay strong don’t let the scale derail you - it might take a couple days but you’ll see loss again

  • Good morning and welcome to Make a Plan Monday!

Typically Mondays are my busy days so rather than working out, I plan my week ahead. Meal planning, workouts, appointments/kid activities. Once I have my week laid out, it’s easier for me to stick to it.

This week we are under yet another heat advisory-it’s the Midwest at the end of July, I expect no less. So this means it’s morning workouts or gym workouts this week. And I’m not a morning person. But it will get done!

I actually find a good bit of recipes on TikTok. I try to focus on high protein as much as I can. This week we’ve grilled a fair bit because it’s ridiculously hot out.
Grilled chicken and baked sweet potatoes
Frozen chicken breasts with a can of red enchilada sauce and taco seasoning in the crockpot-we’ll add beans and corn to the mix before plating. I like this one because we can make it tacos or salad or a sandwich depending on what that family member wants.
Pasta bake- I’ll do protein pasta with Boursin cheese, tomatoes, and spinach. I love this one because it’s a dump and go.

Have me a nice little sprained ankle. So let’s hope my diet and light walking alone can get me through this haha 😅

  • Good morning and happy Friday!

Today is the start of my weekend so that means time to do the adulting I put off during the week. Today’s plan is gym while kiddo 2 has weight lifting, menu planning, Costco, and then maybe a movie tonight. While I’m out and about, I’ll have my water bottle with me because it’s July and we’re under another heat advisory. Unfortunately I’m one of many who are chronically dehydrated and I’m trying to change that for me.

    What are your weekend plans?

Any perimenopausal ladies in the room with suggestions on how to lose body fat during this trying time?? I joined Diet Bet because I’m really struggling to get myself on track. Losing fat has never been too difficult with a little effort until now, and lord, is it suddenly stubborn. 😭
