How do you verify the weight loss?

For all official weigh-ins, you'll be prompted to submit your official starting weight. Our standard weigh-in process involves you submitting 2 photos: one of you standing on a scale in lightweight clothing (no shoes, hats, belts, watches, coats, or outerwear), and another of the scale’s readout with your weigh-in word written on a piece of paper.

What you'll need

  • A scale (preferably digital)
  • A digital camera or smartphone
  • A full-length mirror or someone to take your photo

Hey folks, sorry it's been ages since my last check-in!

At the moment, I'm in a weird phase of reducing the restrictiveness of my diet. It's a funny balance of trying to have a more normal diet without 'going back to normal'. I'm continuing to lose weight, just more slowly, and it's going to take me a while to stop being worried about 'slow weeks'.

I've lost over 50lbs since November (down from about 275), even if I'm not losing fast, I need to remember that I'm doing great.

I'm a bit conflicted about where to take things from here. I've been talking my calories intermittently, having the occasional (very moderate) 'day off' from my restrictions. I'm not sure if I want to be stricter with myself about logging every bite, or to loosen my grip a bit and see what 'being mindful' does for me.

My 'activity points plan' fell apart when I realised that my points couldn't change my insurance bracket this year and I really lost my motivation. At the moment, I'm just doing enough to get my weekly perks. My insurance points reset next month, so I might try working towards a consistency goal like 10k steps a day.

So, a bit of a rambling update, but I'm pleased I wrote something and have taken stock of where I am right now.

Hi Kirsty! What an accomplishment you have achieved! You should feel so proud of yourself. I am thinking about the same thing a little ahead of the game. I have lost over 45 lbs since January 1 and have 35 left to go. But I’m really wondering what I will do once I get there. What my diet will look like? How do I be normal without gaining back all the weight I’ve lost, like I’ve done so many times before. How much can I eat without gaining? Can I ease off exercise? These same thoughts are already in my mind and I too, am worried about how to do it. For now I’m still in weight loss mode, but these thoughts never stop. I think I will join the member’s maintenance games here on DietBet and continue playing the WayBetter games as they give me daily tasks that keep me focused on healthy living. But, I don’t really know if I can do it without the support.

Know that you are not alone. Congratulations again!! I know firsthand your dedication and commitment you applied to reach this milestone. And you look amazing!

Thanks for providing such an inspiring update. Moving to a new normal of regular diet is a challenge we all are facing or will face as we get close to our goals. Being patient with ourselves is important but not easily done
