Today is my birthday! And yeah, I’m planning to indulge in a bit of sweets.
But I’m also starting my 33rd year right with trying a new workout class at my gym. My first class since COVID, so a bit of first class anxiety to overcome. And it was amazing and reminded me why group classes were always my most successful routine.

Let's do this! I'm reading The Resistance Training Revolution and about to embark on the same path! I'm a little worried about weight gain as I go but if I have to lose a round to be a better at burning calories it will be worth it!

The time has come for the first weigh in. And with that comes the inevitable confusion about how winning actually works. So if you haven’t done a DietBet before, or you’re just a bit hazy about the rules, please read on.

First and foremost, you will not receive ANY points/payouts for this game until AFTER the whole game ends. Around November 8th. If you win a round, your winnings will be listed under the ‘Round Info’ tab. But they won’t be available until end of game.

Quitting the game MUST be done by emailing waybetter support BEFORE the start of the next round or you will still be charged for that next round. Rounds start when the weigh in opens, not when it closes. (Round 2 starts in a few hours.)

Next, if you miss your weight for the round, you are still in the game. You don’t win any money for that month, but you can still win other rounds and are still in for the final pot. You can even skip the stress of weighing in if you know you didn’t make it. Only Round 5 and 6 weigh ins are required. I’d still suggest doing it just so you’re in the habit and for the accountability.

The winnings for this round WILL BE LESS THAN YOU PAID FOR THE ROUND. A lot less. Only half of what you pay each round goes to the round pot. The rest goes to the final pot. So you only put $37.50 in for the round’s pot. And DietBet takes a cut. Don’t worry if the winnings seem small. The real return comes in Round 6. If you win every round, you are guaranteed to get 100% of your money back.

Finally, verification. Make sure your entire face is visible in your full length photo. Face up. Don’t look down at the scale and don’t hold the phone/camera in front of your face if you’re doing a mirror selfie. Your scale needs to be at least a foot away from any carpet or rug for the feet photo. And last, but not least, if your scale is reflective, you need to have clothes on.

I have off from work today, and we are taking a day trip. My plan is to pack my normal lunch and snacks, then we'll find a restaurant where I can get some nice salmon and veggies. At our destination...lots of walking/hiking paths.

Ugh! I’m back! Y’all, I have been losing the same 20lbs for 2 years. I get down to goal and then promise I’ll stay there but I can’t get out of my own way. I watch the scale tick up and keep saying tomorrow I’m going to do better. IDK - I guess today is finally that tomorrow.

Don't be frusterated about losing the same 20lbs you could have given up and gained 60lbs in that time. To me your story sounds like a success. You have the discipline of preventing yourself from going more than 20lbs above your goal weight that is something to be proud of.

While I was lucky enough to not gain too much throughout covid, I am ready to be healthier. And while athletic performance is my primary goal, physical appearance improvement doesn't hurt!

I've been doing wall push-ups, crunches, running/walking in place, brisk walks, and dancing when doing activities where I need to be up and moving. Not exactly an exercise program but all are helping to burn extra calories.

I get on YouTube and search for a workout that fits my time limit and pick the one that looks fun! I have really been enjoying Get Fit With Rick workouts. Great music and he's really engaging!

  • Pork Fried Rice (489 calories with egg, 419 calories without).

    I like this meal because it still keeps most of the taste of fried rice, but I've omitted the sesame seed oil and replaced the butter that normally add a bunch of calories, but don't (imo) really change the flavor that much. Also, normally I'd use broccoli for some extra volume instead of the bell pepper, but it turns out I was out of broccoli when I started cooking today.

    This is also a great meal for "scaling up" when 400 calories isn't quite enough, and a great candidate for adding in some extra protein to get those extra calories (egg, more pork, etc). It is quite filling as is though.

I've been making fried rice lately, too! It's awesome to see recipes in the game! I always need good food ideas!!

Mine is just eggs and I use brown rice since it's free on WW. I found I can't live without the sesame oil but since a little bit goes a long way I can use very little and still get the flavor! That and a bit of oyster sauce (I use vegetarian) and it's low points and delish!
