Sounds like you did exercise, just not in a conventional sense. Real-world exercise is the best!

that is a great exercise. I often use cleaning to get extra calories burned! loading the washer and dryer: crunches. Lifting heavy boxes (done correctly with knees) Squats. Taking the Trash out: and walked to the curb to do so. Walking lunges/dead lifts.

I would have been freaking out! Bless your heart! and your son's!

My oldest son has Autism and during those 4 years in high school I had several similar freak out moments. Our imaginations are your worst enemies. The worst time was during a school shutdown due to a shooter threat. He had a cell phone but didn't turn it on during the emergency because he always followed the rules- no phones during class! All the parents around me were calling their kids and I had no way to reach him. That was a stressful 2 hours.

I hope your weekend is restful. Remember to take care of yourself.

Planning Planning Planning. It takes a little extra time but it will reduce some of the stress and guilt you feel eating on the run.

Plan your meals and snacks 3 to 7 days out so you can go shopping on a good day. I avoid the rush hour crowds to keep the blood pressure down!

Bring a cooler to work and the kid functions so you can pack enough food to get you and the kids through until dinner.

Almost all my meals are 30 minutes or less. I personally use that cooking time as "me" time to decompress. My 4 kids know to give me some space and that I'm available to help with their problems the entire rest of the evening.

Cold weather is coming. That is when I remember the good old Crockpot.

I hope some of these ideas help you. I'm currently in the phase of kids in college dropping in for meals without any advance notice. I'm waiting for them to get the clue that I'm no longer cooking to feed a crowd (6-8) and the dinners are mostly salads right now.

It sure feels like aerobic exercise!!! I like that you portion controlled your favorite snack... I am really missing the tortilla chip/cheese snack that I used to have every day when I got home from work...
