How do you verify the weight loss?

For all official weigh-ins, you'll be prompted to submit your official starting weight. Our standard weigh-in process involves you submitting 2 photos: one of you standing on a scale in lightweight clothing (no shoes, hats, belts, watches, coats, or outerwear), and another of the scale’s readout with your weigh-in word written on a piece of paper.

What you'll need

  • A scale (preferably digital)
  • A digital camera or smartphone
  • A full-length mirror or someone to take your photo

Up 2.5 pounds after my day at Disneyland. One of those is almost certainly water retention to balance out the veritable salt lick I consumed in the form of theme-park popcorn. Most of the rest is likely permanent but still not fat -- my glycogen stores were pretty well spent during my illness, and I was mostly eating brothy soups, so there wasn't much to digest hanging out in my system. My return to solid food has been pretty high fiber until yesterday, too. A tiny amount of the added weight -- a quarter of a pound at most -- is new body fat, and I am certainly okay with that in exchange for a very fun day.

Where things even out at the end of this week will be interesting. My prediction is I'll lose 0.5 pounds of mostly fat, as I should with my deficit, and one pound of water retention, but that's only if I show some restraint in the face of haggis, neeps, and tatties on Thursday.

Regardless, I should be safe for this round. I just don't totally want to lose the lead I've got into round 2 that allows me to only try to lose 0.5lbs/week instead of 0.75. The less I have to lose each week, the happier I am.
