How do you verify the weight loss?

For all official weigh-ins, you'll be prompted to submit your official starting weight. Our standard weigh-in process involves you submitting 2 photos: one of you standing on a scale in lightweight clothing (no shoes, hats, belts, watches, coats, or outerwear), and another of the scale’s readout with your weigh-in word written on a piece of paper.

What you'll need

  • A scale (preferably digital)
  • A digital camera or smartphone
  • A full-length mirror or someone to take your photo

This week was a wash. My husband baked a delicious spice cake, my student suckered me into buying some gluten-free Girl Scout cookies (I ate three and gave away the rest), I've had bad insomnia and craved salty, crunchy foods (and have indulged), and I exercised less than I'd planned because I was so tired from not sleeping.

My average calorie intake for the week was maintenance, but, of course, the extra salt and simple carbs have me hanging on to an extra two pounds for now. I'll be eating out today, and while there will be no trouble keeping the calories within range, I'll still be overdoing the salt a bit.

I should be good by the weigh-in, but if not... well, insomnia has long been my nemesis. I'm not surprised it's shown up to put a wrench in the works.

I did my workout in this morning despite little sleep. Hopefully that'll help me fall asleep tonight!

The insomnia cravings really can derail a day, but wow on all that you've been able to adjust to and overcome. Definitely learning a lesson from you and your resilience.

Thanks, guys. I did talk to one doctor who has some tips and wants me to talk to my primary (harder to get a hold of). My insurance denied a sleep study years ago, but I have different insurance now... maybe I should try again.

Judy -- listening to a relaxation tape on fast-forward totally sounds like something I would do when my mind is racing!
