  • Gratitude is so important and can positively impact all areas of our lives.

    This is one of my favorite exercises I do in our Gratitude Attitude games on the WayBetter app. I wanted to also do it here, because a gratitude practice can also help us with our weight loss goals.

    Gratitude decreases stress and, in turn, stress responses like eating. It can also contribute to better sleep which helps with overall health. Starting the day with gratitude is a practice that will contribute to overall well-being, as well as establishing a habit that can then lead to establishing other great habits like goal setting, exercising, preparing healthy meals.

    So, for some fun this weekend - Let's start a gratitude chain!

  • Well, I haven’t put a lot of effort into my weight loss journey… I have had some weird health issues… and it’s hard to keep on track. Then my older sister passed away last Wednesday. So my mind is totally elsewhere. I won’t be weighing in this round. Good luck to everybody else! I’ll be in it again next round!

I may have done myself in for this round. It’s been a rough week so far. My poor kitty spent last night in an animal hospital. I got about two hours of sleep total and none of the news was good. ☹️ Kitty is hanging in for now but my husband and I decided to go out to dinner to try and repair ourselves. I planned to be good and got soup and salad only. But one taste of the out of this world brisket French onion soup and I realized it was 100% sodium. Still couldn’t stop myself from inhaling it. Hopefully I can make this work over the next two days as I was SO close up until now. Send happy thoughts for my weigh in but mostly for my kitty!

Hope your kitty will be alright :two_hearts:! We had a dog that had to go in for emergency surgery earlier this month and it was rough for a few weeks. Stay strong for yourself and your cat :cat2:

You do have to "submit" twice. You can reuse a weigh-in, but it doesn't happen automatically.

I just need to rant real quick... I am having the hardest time. Two weeks ago, I was 6lbs away. Totally doable. I started back race training that week and have since gained 5lbs! The first week I copped it up to starting my period and some workout water retention. After another week though, 2 more lbs? So a total of 5lbs up instead of the 6 down that I needed. Decided to try even more water than usual, low carb, low sodium, low cal yesterday and weigh in today just to see what the difference would be. Up another pound.

I just don’t understand weight. At all. I get the muscle is denser, but I haven’t gained 5lbs of muscle.

I don’t know if you drink tea, but when I retain a bunch of water weight sometimes a cup of cranberry weightless tea from Traditional Medicinals will help.

Got a walk/jog in yesterday plus today and hoping I’ll be up to a mile jog by the 2nd weigh in. It’s been over a year since I’ve been able to run more than a mile, plus 4 years since I was doing Marathon training, and I have so much more weight on me then before COVID so it’s extremely slow going. But as the pounds are slowly coming off from this DietBet, I can also feel it getting easier to be active :) How is every one else been doing as far as NSVs?

I’ve also been dairy free for a little over a week and I can feel/see a huge difference as far as the bloating and lactose intolerance issues. Knock on wood, as long as I manage to not binge on cheese or something with dairy I should make my weigh in this week *crossing fingers*

  • I finally managed to get into the doctor yesterday and tested positive for two separate infections that I’ve had for over a month… but on the upside hopefully I’ll be able to hear and feel better once the antibiotics kick in! Felt pretty lousy today, but since the migraine already cost me some workouts I decided to get a 30 min walk/jog and some strength training in so the week wasn’t a total loss. On a side note I was still on my intermittent fast when I got my labs done and it picked up that I was in ketosis so that was kind of gratifying to see :)

That’s awesome. Glad to hear things are looking up for you. I had a UTI and had no idea until a random urine test. Boy did I feel better once the antibiotics kicked in! I hope you do too!

  • I wanted to share a post with you all that I shared with a facebook fitness group I'm in with my friends. I'm working on recommitting and refocusing to be a better, healthier version of myself :)

    --I'm working on making a comeback. Things have been crazy, and my emotional and mental wellbeing have been struggling to keep up. My husband and I are working on some stuff, the cats and kittens are all taken care of, and I'm making plans for a possible career change. Burnout is so real, but I feel like we're heading toward and upswing.

    I've pushed through some roadblocks and decided to take the leap back into physical fitness this morning. I started my old favorite, and go-to, 21DFRT. I submitted my weigh in for a new dietbet starting on August 1, and also joined a transformer 😬 I won't make round 1 goal, but absolutely canNOT miss the other 5 weigh outs. My weight is the highest it's ever been and once I saw it, I thought about crying over how much I've given up and let myself go, but I updated my measurements and pressed play instead. I even talked myself out of waiting until Monday, that never works. New months and new weeks are a great idea for a start, I know me and my laziness, that gives me an excuse to make excuses.

    I know I need to do a lot of work, and need to be consistent and disciplined. I will do my best, and to paraphrase my counselor, "you are a human being not a human doing. You've got this!"

    21DFRT, Day 1, Total Body Cardio Fix: DONE!!!

    *Also, Midge made it into the collage because she's Midge and so dang cute!!*
