  • Just under 2 weeks ago, I ran the NYC Half Marathon. Today, I was informed that I was selected to run the NYC MARATHON in November. Yes, *THE* infamous NYC MARATHON.

    What a great birthday present 🎁 (today is my birthday ????)

    Time to step up my game and get into the best shape of my life, as I was one of the last people to finish the Half Marathon - yikes!

I’ve been feeling a little bummed out that my scale hasn’t moved much in the last two weeks. I’m below the goal so not worried there. I’m just anxious to get back to ONEderland. But anyways, NSV was that all my clothes are getting way too big so I reached back in my closet today and pulled out some old jeans that I haven’t worn since 2018 before a procedure that messed me up for over a year and started me spiraling up in weight… and they fit! I’m down from a 24/26W to a 16 now. 🎉

I need help!!!

I work over an hour away from home so I get up at 4am and drive to the gym next to work to avoid rush hour traffic. This means I shower and get ready at the gym.

Gym to office organization for my car…I’m at a loss as to how to organize everything. I live in Texas so it gets hot. How do you keep shower towels and gym clothes from mildewing? My car looks like a messy closet if I lay everything out to dry. Then I’m not organized the next morning. I have put a tiny laundry basket in my car to catch gym clothes for the week. The gym and showering away from home is new to me so any sort of tips or tricks are welcome.

All your gym clothes should be quick dry material and should be as small as you feel comfortable. Tank tops and shorts, if that works for you. You could also look at travel towels since those are designed to dry quickly. And, honestly, who cares if your car looks like a messy closet. Anybody walking past will probably thing that the driver is amazingly committed to her daily workouts, which is awesome!

So I figured out why my weight was fluctuating like crazy - it was all the beans I was eating after going completely meat free since the middle of the month 😅😂 I’ve been on a low bloat diet for 2 days b4 weigh-in (ie green things, non-bean protein) and I’m not having any more flatulence and my scale finally dropped! If anyone is struggling to make weight-in don’t eat beans 😅

If you are close on weight, what’s your strategy day before weigh in? I was thinking eat light, no exercise, lower carb and sodium’s, and cut off fluids early in day. Any other suggestions? Today I am good but I know ovulation is coming and I usually gain 2-4lbs overnight 😡

I up my fiber intake by adding some all-bran buds to my yogurt and up my water intake by sipping on a gallon all day

If I'm like half a pound away in the morning, I just wait a few hours (and obviously don't eat or drink) and it will be gone. If it's a bit more than that, a walk might help.

    I’ll be *45 years-old* next month; I’ve been overweight or obese most of my life (since I was a kid), but now I’m finally developing muscle (definition). Maybe that’s why the scale has stopped moving: gaining muscle?

  • Welcome to a new week!

    Have you been giving yourself grace and realizing small steps forward are better than trying to be perfect?

    Last time we talked about this quote - perfection is the enemy of progress. I also like to put it this way ...and now that you don't have to be PERFECT you can be GOOD. Or even - continuous improvement is better than delayed perfection.

    No matter how you say it, remember to give yourself grace. It's a series of small habits that will help you make lasting changes. Those other small choices can be easily overcome rather than being the reason you go completely off course.

    How do you feel about the weigh-in at the end of the week? Just checking in here and staying invovled with us is a reason to be proud of yourself!

I’m feeling great-just did a great workout. As of this morning I have about a pound and a half to go. I’m eating two healthy meals a day. My clothes are fitting better. If I’m not able to make the goal, I’ll know I did my best.

Anyone else dealing with fluctuations? I’ve been kind of frustrated lately. My clothes are falling off, I’m getting comments that people are noticing, and I’m feeling stronger, but dang the scale keeps zigzagging around the last 2 lbs (for this month’s weigh-in) and it’s driving me crazy 😅
