Everyone has their own strategy which is valid but what helped me loose around 6kg in the last around 20days without too much restricting is replacing some meals, often breakfast and/or dinner with a protein shake while having a lunch with comfort food. Or eating one day less then I could while the next day is almost maintenance calories. So I can have like indian takeaway, sometimes even fast food so don’t have to restrict myself, hit my protein goals and still loose weight. Because everyone will relapse at one point anyway or especially me because I have to deal with binge eating/adhd which was the reason I alwqys regained. Willpower is limited.

I feel you with the adhd struggle. Boredom snacking is a habit I continously fight with. I also have had reasonable success with an everything in moderation mindset, and plan around things I really want without making myself feel too guilty about cravings. After all, long term success is build with lifestyle changes not temporary diets/habits. I also try to log things daily, but usually look at my bulk/weekly averages for the trends. We all have "bad" days and so I try not to let myself get too caught up on a single day. I've found it makes it easier to mentally reset the next day and continue forward towards my longer term goals.

If I really want tacos on a Friday for example, I may skip breakfast or lunch that day to save my intake allowance for later in the day. I don't like to eat at a particular time just because everyone else is (lunch in the office for example). I'd rather save my calories to eat when I want too, and have found this helps me stay within my daily intake goals. Also the mindset shift of saying not now instead of just outright no goes a long way for my late night snack cravings and the willingness to have that snack or treat tomorrow instead of right now

What I can recommend, instead of skipping entirely, have a protein shake with water of like 150 calories, prevents you overeating your comfort meal

Is anyone leaning on AI (chatgpt?) for help with nutrition and fitness schedules? What's the best advice you've gotten from it so far?

Yes 100%! Just using chatGPT. I have a super simple kitchen scale for weighing out portions, I’ve found it’s super helpful to just give it a “I made this, here were the ingredients, I had xx grams” and it gives a pretty decent range of calories and protein! Also for advice when eating out, literally just upload screenshots of the entire menu and it gives good recommendations based on what you want (for me I usually target most efficient calories per gram of protein, others may just want lowest calories).

No I don’t use AI because I value the planet

Yeah but why is the goal not equally split between the months, if it were it would be 2kg not 4kg i have to loose till mid June

Kim G.

I think it is because initially it is easier to loose the weight, but as you loose more it gets harder and the weight comes off slower. The different goals are to reflect the progression most people have and the final month of maintaining is to help us develop habits to maintain. Most people when they stop dieting gain some of the weight back.

I am tracking calories and proteins, goal is around my basic consumption, tracking half my sport calories as extra that i can eat. I hit the gym in oder to retain muscles but I just started again after 8 months of gaining 15-20kg because of health problems that didn’t allow for sport and I did a lot of comfort eating against pain. Will be a long route from 122kg to my goal of 80kg.

Lots of protein. Cutting down on snacks and pop. Mix of cardio and strength training.
