  • While I know most of this was water weight, I’m glad with the progress I have made so far. January was to make a habit of watching what I eat and how much, tracking my food and water, and limiting carbs, sugar, sodium, and fats; however, February is going to be a focus of beginning to move around more and start an exercise habit. It’s hard to find workouts that I can do with my disability; fortunately, there are influencers who do focus on low-impact and workout moderations for those who need it. I can’t wait for the next part of

Congrats! Totally blown away by your progress so far.
Have you tried free weights, or weight lifting? Building muscle does slow weight loss but keeps you burning fat long after you finish working out (at least that’s my experience).
Good luck moving forward!

That is so great!!

I haven’t exercised in a VERY long time because I have knee arthritis. My doctor recommended a stationary bike. So I did a 20 minute cycle workout for the first time 2 days ago. It was hard, but I did it. Anyway, the next day I had gained 2 pounds and I stayed in my plan. How could this be. Could the workout cause water retention or something since I haven’t worked out in a long time?

Definitely water retention. When you work your legs especially, this can happen.

I never lose anything for weeks when I start working out again. Then suddenly it starts!
Keep at it.

  • I LOVE new starts (a new day, a new week, a new month and especially A NEW YEAR)!

The cost of procrastination is the life you could have lived - WOW this one hit me, hard. I have always said, every single time I wanted to get my health in order, I wanted to stop living on the sidelines of my OWN life. But, I think this will be my new and improved self pushing mantra to help me keep going. The future is SO uncertain, 2020 (and the last three years) showed many of us that in abundance. So, I need to stop procrastinating with my wellness and live. <3

So! I signed up for dietbet and WW (for logging and most importantly the meetings).

A bit about me, I'm Shannon 34 and living in SE WI. I'm married to my HS sweetheart and we've been together 17 years! I'm a momma to 3 triplet kittens. And I'm a nightshift ER nurse.

My story is similar to most with weight issues. I had really really bad trauma growing up and I coped with food. I started gaining at about 6, tried every fad diet out there and developed a binge eating disorder along the way (thanks Mom & Dad! 😂).

After years of therapy I'm doing much better and last year I was able to lose 30 pounds! I did well with keeping it off for awhile and then I got lax. But, I know I can do it again and with the added support from all of you and my hubby who has a couple pounds to lose also eating better!

As an incentive to get moving more, I signed up at my favorite gym. It's got a walking track, pool, hot tub, sauna and MOST importantly to me, classes. I push myself way harder when I have a group class! I got in a walk this AM to get myself started.

If you have taken the time to read this, you rock. Post any tips that have helped you succeed or any IG accounts you like to follow!

Thank you for the motivating testimony! I relate to fresh starts just like you, we are in this together

Also a night ED RN, quick question: do you work out before/after your first and last shifts? (If you work three in a row.)

I can never sleep before the first, but I do try and take it easy. Im thinking that could be a yoga day.
Obvi there’s no time the second or third day for anything but sleep, but that’s fine.
Then I’m so exhausted after the third, especially when trying to flip my schedule back, but I feel like if I don’t work out I’m losing another day.

  • Hi everyone! My husband and I were doing great until April. Our 20 month old was diagnosed with a terminal illness called Krabbe disease and was predicted to pass away by the end of the year. Our only option was to have a bone marrow transplant to extend his life. It isnt a cure, but it protects the brain and buys us time. We left our older 2 girls with family in SC and lived at Pittsburgh Children's Hospital for 6 months. We each gained at least 30 pounds this year and we are so ready to shed the weight now that we are back home and Arthur is not in such a vulnerable state.

Wow it sounds like you have had a rough year. I hope 2024 goes better for you and your family. It is always hard when you have a sick kid.
