How do you verify the weight loss?

For all official weigh-ins, you'll be prompted to submit your official starting weight. Our standard weigh-in process involves you submitting 2 photos: one of you standing on a scale in lightweight clothing (no shoes, hats, belts, watches, coats, or outerwear), and another of the scale’s readout with your weigh-in word written on a piece of paper.

What you'll need

  • A scale (preferably digital)
  • A digital camera or smartphone
  • A full-length mirror or someone to take your photo

It has been a rough month. The end of February, my grandpa passed away. My parent took care of him for 17 years, so this was incredibly difficult. Then, 2 weeks later, my aunt with stage 4 cancer took a turn for the worst, and was placed in hospice. We all stayed by her for the 3 days in hospice before she passed away. My parents cared for her for 5 years.

Then last week, we spent 2 days at CHildrens Hospital of Philadelphia so my daughter could go through a bunch of tests to qualify for a clinical trial. She was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, which basically means she did not have most of the left side of her heart. She has been through 3 open heart surgeries to reconstruct her heart. This heart structure leads to liver damage for most of these kids. This medicine should improve her blood flow, and may reduce the risk of liver damage. She qualified, but it was a rough week. Despite all of this, I kept up with my weight loss, and was a winner in round 2.

My point is that you can all do this. Life throws curveballs, and sometimes, we may give in and eat unhealthy food or skip a workout, but instead of focusing on that, move on, and do better the next day. Life is short, and it should be celebrated. Work hard, play harder. And, Don’t forget to tell the people you love how much they mean to you.

I’m so sorry for your losses. And wishing you the best for your daughter. CHOP is amazing. Congrats on continuing to care for yourself with so much going on. That is not easy to do.
