Jessie

I want to be able to be a good example to my children, and I want to be able to take my family on very active and "adventurous" vacations. I cannot do that right now because I am so out of shape.

It will! Stay consistent. You got this! You might also mix up your exercise and up your water. I'm dealing w a plateau right now too. It sucks, but we're stronger!

You could come up with a list of rewards that are not counter to your goals. When you are having that feeling you felt before you picked up that chocolate, look at your list and make a rational decision, not an emotional one (like a chocolate bar that you weren't planning on eating!)

One the bright side, have you made any strength/movement improvements with P90x3? I love that you are working out as a couple!

Jessie

We only just started the P90X3 two days ago. So I haven't made any improvements yet, unfortunately. Mostly I'm still busy obsessing over how not-funny I find Tony Hurton to be. =p

Were the weigh-ins back to back, or spread out over the day?

If I'm hydrating really good, and then working out hard, I can see a 5-8 pound change in water weight over the course of the day. You can cut salt, if your salt intake isn't already restricted, and that will help stabilize water weight fluctuations.

Also, weigh in first thing in the morning, after you go to the bathroom, but before you eat or drink anything to get the most consistent readings.

If you have a binge day and drink a lot of alcohol and eat a bunch of sugary and starchy food, your weight could jump up 9 pounds; mostly water and undigested crap. Over two to three days your weight will go back down, as long as you clean up your act.

If the readings were back to back, though, could be a problematic piece of technology you have there...

(Back when I was using an analog scale, I always made three weigh-ins and averaged them because it was so inconsistent.)

Jessie

The weigh-ins were back-to-back because it was a new scale and I was testing it. I decided the problem was that I had it on carpet. I moved the scale to a tile floor, and it seemed to work itself out.

But on the topic of binge days, I had one last night. And I'm not happy about my weight results. T_T Hopefully everything will go back down soon.

Great job on the soda! That will save you a lot of trouble in the long run. If you like tea, there are a lot of recipes out there for sparkling iced tea, which is a tasty replacement for me.

Good going on the exercise, too! Injuries always derail me (and I'll also use my dogs injuries). I forced myself to go to the gym today and felt better for it.

You can do this! Don't focus on the past. This is new. Set yourself small daily goals that you can reach. An exercise goal, an eating goal, a water goal. You'll find that if you're mindful of today you'll have an easier time of it

Katelyn

Good luck! You can do it!
