I am so tired. I am trying to break through my plateau, doing some sort of exercise every day this month (I do have rest days, but I haven't had lazy couch days). Fasting has been the only way I have lost weight. Today I fasted and walked 5.5 miles and was dead afterwards.

5.5 miles is a long trip. I think it is fair to expect a good night's sleep on a day like that.

Charlene p.

You less you haven’t lost in 6+ weeks I wouldn’t say you are in a plateau. Just keep being consistent and the results will come through. Sometimes not as we want them but suddenly one day you might be down a pound or two

  • What do you do for work?

    Are you sitting at a desk or able to walk around and get some activity in?

    If you're job involves a lot of time at a desk, it can be difficult to stay active during those hours. Some ideas are to get up every once in a while, take the long way to the water fountain or restroom, use a bike desk or walking pad, or even take a few laps up and down the stairs instead of using the elevator.

    There are even some exercises that can be done at your desk such as:
    - Oblique twists
    - Seated bicycles
    - Leg lifts
    - Glute Squeeze
    - Seated leg extensions

    Do you do anything in particular to get in some extra movement during the workday?

I usually get a lot of walking done in my classroom. I don't think I'd survive sitting all day!

I drive a greyhound bus :joy::joy::joy: but make time for the elliptical at any gym 5 times a week

  • We haven’t talked about Non-Scale Victories for a while, and I know you have them!

    As the pressure of making our goal for this game gets stronger, it’s important to remember that the scale doesn’t tell the whole story.

    Also, as things come up in life, it’s important to pat ourselves on the back for good habits we are keeping up with, challenges we are overcoming, and just making it through the day.

    You are all incredible, and you’re doing a wonderful job. You deserve a pat on the back! I hope you all can find some small victories to give yourself credit for, and please share them with us below.

I was able to “shop my closet”

I lost a t shirt size and a few pant sizes.

Once upon a time I posted daily here and I found it to be so inspiring, but this game I haven't been participating. It's not new anymore, I've lost these same pounds before and it just isn't thrilling the 3rd of 4th time of the yo yo. It's also not as easy, maybe my metabolism slowed down because I got older, or maybe I lost lean mass and gained back fat making it harder each time. My point is I think I would like to participate more.

HI 👋 I'm Eli. I've been a Vegan for over 5 years. I Have 5 daughters ages 3, 5, 7, 9, and 13. I have high blood pressure, Triglycerides over 500 and I am obese. I want to lose weight for my health. This time around I have been focusing on exercise over diet, but I feel like I am not doing either very well.

Hi Eli! I also stopped engaging so much after the first round, and am jumping back in. I'll keep an eye out for your posts! Small steps every day - remember to celebrate what you are doing well and stay focused on your WHY for motivation to keep improving.

Scott

Ton of respect for you, Eli. Posting like this can make someone feel vulnerable, but it is the opposite. You're facing it all head-on. I have 2 sons, and any time someone asks me why I keep working out or trying to eat healthy, I always say it's because I want to be around when my kids have kids. And it can be a great example for your kids as well.

Keep pushing yourself. Allow a couple pounds lost to help build your confidence for the next couple. Baby steps.

My best advice for exercise is to hit an elliptical then follow it up with the treadmill at a slight incline. Try the elliptical for 15 minutes to start. Next week go to 20 minutes, and so on. Exercise bike in between days can help alleviate any knee or back pain as well.

And my biggest struggle of all, not snacking after dinner Lol.

  • How about a little inspiration for this new round...

    Weight loss doesn't begin in the gym with a dumb bell; it starts in your head with a decision.

    Give this a like if you agree!

    Rate your current mindset. Start with a 1 (it's really a struggle) to 10 (you have never felt more strong about making it happen!)

Honestly - currently a 2-3. I have been yo-yoing so long and then when I really get it together and make a strict effort, it doesn’t seem to show up on the scale (perimenopause/ Hashimotos/ desk job) but I refuse to stop trying. Even if it happens slow and I don’t win the money I refuse to stay at a standstill any longer

5 somewhere along the journey to its easy to make it happen.

In addition to this dietbet, I'm in a challenge at my gym to lose weight and body fat %. It's a six-week challenge. If we average 10% loss on both, we even get our money back (6 weeks of gym and personal training). I really want to get there!

In case this goal sounds insane, it's not that bad -- you can lose maybe 5% of your body weight and 15% of your body fat percentage, and then that works out to 10% average across the two. Losing 15% of body fat percentage doesn't mean going from 30% body fat to 15%. It means going from 30% to 25.5% (4.5 is 15% of 30). I was in pretty good muscle shape before this began, so my goal is to maintain muscle while losing fat.

We are in the last week--weigh-out is Friday--and I'm close...in the 9% range or so. Wish me luck! Win or lose, I've made progress, which is also showing up in this challenge. I'm about 1 lb from my round 3 goal, and about 4 from my final goal.

Well I'm bummed. The ap kept freezing on me and not letting me submit my pictures. My pics show my time which is an hour before dietbet so since it was 12:19 (my time but 1119 dietbet time) they didn't approve either of my pictures for both my dietbets

Really bummed and think that's super messed up. I tried for a long time and then wrote them telling them and it wasn't finalized and it's not hard to see the time stamp on the pictures, the screenshot of when it started and see I was doing stuff for quite some time (over and hour) and it was all before the deadline.

There’s no other way to say it: IT SUCKS! And hugely frustrating. I missed the way-in on a transformer once, and no matter how I tried to ignore it- It kept poking at me and irritating me. Especially when you’re doing what you’re supposed to do!!

cindifromindy

Im so sorry. I can relate i hit my goal submitted but they said my weight had to be submitted because it was unofficial. By the time i got my questions answered i had eaten and was .1 over goal so didnt submit. Had worked so hard for weigh in. Oh well will move on and work hard for April!!

  • Weekend Mini Challenge: What can you change in your environment?

    A good tip when committing to any new habit is to set yourself up for success and make sure you have plenty of reminders to keep you on track.

    Set up your environment to help you stay committed to your goals.

    Some ways to set yourself up for success
    - Get rid of junk food
    - Prep fruits and veggies ahead of time
    - Keep cold water in the fridge
    - Leave yourself notes
    - Set an alarm for your workouts
    - Meal prep and meal planning
    - Set your workout clothes out the night before

    Your mini challenge this weekend is to do something to set yourself up for success! Are there any visual cues you set up for yourself? Changes you've made to your environment? Or other ways you set yourself up for success?

I set out all of this weeks exercise outfits and packed my car with my gym bag, yoga bag, and running gear. Didn’t get to the store because I went hiking, so probably will be having a lot of protein shakes until I get around to it :sweat_smile:

I’m getting new workout clothes. Mine too baggy. Actually, saw some at resale shop that’s been my clothes exchange. I don’t take the money for my to big clothes I bring into sell, I buy smaller things off their racks. I’m now taking some of those purchases back in my too big pile as the cycle goes on.

  • Non-Scale Victories are everything! The scale can move in different directions for so many different reasons and it can feel like you don’t have much control over it. Non-Scale Victories are what keep you going!

    Recognizing NSVs can help keep you positive and encouraged daily.

    Here are some examples:

    * More energy
    * Can lift heavier
    * Clothes fit better
    * Can workout longer
    * Less cravings
    * Better mood

    Have you had any NSVs lately? Share them, so we can all cheer your victory!

My recent NSV was going shopping yesterday and buying a size 12 pair of pants. At one time I was in a size 22! I wanted to cry when I tried the size 12 ones…and they fit. Mind boggling.

Clothes fit better and I’m more flexible than I was a month ago.
