Does anyone else have a problem with staying on track after the official weigh in? I find myself going off the rails once I make weight and then struggling to get back on plan. Like, this time I have gained back almost all of the weight I lost and now I have to hustle to try and lose it all again before the end of next round. I know it's probably mostly water weight, but still. Why can't I just control myself? I tell myself not to do this dumb cycle every time and yet, here I am again. So mad and disappointed in myself.

Sarah

Definitely! One thought for you: Try dividing the month into weeks and the goal into rough quarters as well. If your goal is to lose 6.8 pounds, try focusing on losing two pounds per week. Do an 'official' weigh in once per week and keep your 2 pound goal in mind all week. Just a thought!

Happy Thursday!! Checking in on everyone because I forgot to check in the past few days. I’m still shocked how good I’ve been doing this round as far as snacking goes, BUT the scale is plateaued and I’m okay with that. My NSV has been my clothes fitting better ❤ anyone else have a NSV?

Mine is clothes fitting and body composition for sure. I’m so proud of the muscle definition!!

DietBet Grace

That is such a great feeling when clothes start fitting better!! You are doing great, Cathy! The scale will move eventually!

After about 6 weeks, I still see no difference in the mirror or in pictures. BUT, my clothes are fitting more comfortably and my wedding ring slides on easier. Anyone else feeling a bit better?

I have more energy and feel stronger. My clothes are more comfortable too.

Bendy

I thought the same until I put on the same day 1 outfit and placed the pictures side by side in the same poses. Wow! Change definitely was noticed!

Getting a little frustrated. We had family visit from up north for 10 days. They were constantly eating ice cream, cookies, chips, and other unhealthy snacks, but I held to my plan and did not take one bite of any of it. I also worked out at least 4 - 5 days a week, but then I weighed in after they left only to have lost 1.5 lbs. I know that's a good number, but it's still frustrating to stay that focused and lose that little. Any encouraging words?

Sometimes it takes a few days to see the results on the scale. Keep up the good work and check in again in a few more days!

I also have a love/hate relationship with fasting. I do alternate daily fasting ala The Fasting Method. I find preparing dinner for my family during my fasting days is hardest. Also, the hour before dinner is ready on my eating day can be a real challenge for me.

DietBet Grace

I think it gets easier over time, but listen to your body! If you're hungry, eat :) Intermittent fasting can be helpful even if you don't do it every single day.

I am a teacher and back to school preplanning this week. How do you all stay motivated and on track? Any tips? I went from having so much time during summer to meal plan and workout to no time and stress again 😩

For the first couple weeks back in the saddle, stick to food prep you are excited to eat and that you have prepared before. Nothing sends me running for the snacks faster than a flop of a recipe. Also, solidify any planned exceptions in your eating plan ahead if time. Like, allowing yourself one treat on the first day of school or a special cocktail after work on the Friday of that first week. (I'll share mine: I'm not snacking the month of August EXCEPT a slice of cake on my Dad's birthday and a scoop of ice cream the day I take my kids to the beach.)
It's great that you've laid a foundation this summer - just some tweaks to fit it into your work schedule!

Krazy

I saw something that said make a pan of your protein. I love baking chicken breast with Cajun seasoning. Then roast 2 pans of veggies. Add that to salads or wraps etc as needed

I made my goal, but I'm struggling mentally with the fact that I've still got so far to go. I have alternated from overweight to obese to morbidly obese since I was a young child. I hate that this overtakes so much of my life. I'm trying not to give up on myself.

Same!!!! I made my goal but I have a ways to go to get to a healthy weight. We need to start somewhere!! It is a long game!

DietBet Grace

Congratulations, Sarah! This is definitely a marathon, not a sprint. Even when you reach your goal, it still requires hard work to maintain. I like to think of it as - the time will pass anyway, so what will you do with your time? Slow progress is STILL progress, and you are doing great!

  • I went a little bonkers last night and sabotaged myself, so I may not win this DietBet. But I’m still so positive, and so grateful that stringing a couple bets in a row this summer has helped me with much better habits on the whole. I hope that everyone has something positive like that to be taking from the experience!

I LOVE that my clothes are fitting again, and that my strength and endurance has been really growing.. these are the things that are making me smile tonight, even if the number on the scale tomorrow falls short of the winners circle. Good luck!

Having your clothes fit again is an amazing achievement!

Sounds like it’s a winner regardless of what the scale says!

Completely fell off the wagon with chocolate, ice cream, and wine on Sunday. Trying to stay on track. This is going to be a very close one for me. Super stressful series of events. Really hoping the smoke clears tomorrow night and I can get back out side

I'm sorry you're going through a hard time. I also struggle with not self 'medicating' with food when life is a series of difficult events. I hope things are improving for you!

You got this! Every day is a new day and a chance to make healthy choices!
