  • Determination and patience are essential to achieving what we want to achieve. I am 56, the past few weeks have been challenging however I have continued to eat less than 2000 calories per day, eat healthier and exercise when possible. Today the number was the lowest since we began on January 1. Keep going everyone.

  • I resisted the temptation of a brownie sundae Monday night and of tons of baked goods this morning. This has been a tough week but I have my eye on the prize...which is better health. Also found out today I have extremely high cortisol and very low progesterone which both have symptoms of making it really hard to lose weight so I'm hopeful now that I'll be on medicine for both. Despite it being hard I'm still slowly losing. For me it's little wins at a time...and non scale victories. Also I got a new haircut!!

I’ve been dealing with cortisol issues too, partially med related and partially stress related for me, as far as little extra things that may help, I’ve found yin yoga to be helpful along with proper sleep hygiene. I also take Ashwagandha and magnesium in the evenings. All were recommended by my docs, but of course talk to yours first to see what they think :) Congratulations on your progress so far! Your hair looks beautiful!

Nearly there however going though a very frustrating 10 day plateau at 198.6 and then yesterday saw the 200lbs again. Made me sad. However I have to keep focusing on that I have lost 16lbs since the beginning of the year and I am exercising far more. Keep on track and it is going to happen.

  • That significant weight loss two weeks ago was a 3 day fasting plan. Just shows you that the only sensible approach is steady and patient. These past two weeks of fluctuations have not been easy however I kept believing that weight loss was going to happen and seems like I am back on the road to sensible and steady.

I completely agree! I had Influenza A toward the beginning of the bet, and lost quite a bit at once because I was so sick. The constant back and forth once I could eat again was frustrating to say the least, and now I seem to be at a plateau. Keep reminding myself to stick with it and things will work out.

@ Kelli thanks for the tips. I’ve been drinking lots of water and eating clean, whole foods but I probably could do better to make sure I’m eating enough!

I lost 7.6 pounds, but missed goal by 2 pounds. It is bittersweet, but I am still proud of myself. I am still working a lot and it is hard to stay focused, but my hours should lessen over the next month. My 60+ hour weeks may drop to 50. I am going to do my best to reach goal next month, but I am worried because I am 2 pounds behind now.

7.6lbs, that’s amazing. There is the win. Ask yourself if someone said they could guarantee you losing that much weight in one month, is the bet worth it? Sure is.

Keep going Tina! Don't get discouraged. The second month is often the hardest because it's the same weight loss goal as the first month and you don't get the same initial loss as when you first start to lose. But stick with it! Each round will get easier and you'll catch up. Your loss this past month shows that what you're currently doing is working, so no need to change anything or do anything extreme.
